The Biblical Prophets relate to my project in the sense that they tried to help people and to bring them closer to God. The Prophets preached and prophesized to hundreds and thousands of people about God, so that they would believe in Him and to worship Him. For my project, I am also helping people. Many people who suffer a lot begin to despise God and by helping these people I am showing them that there is a God. When these people start to realize that people are trying to help them, then
Job’s story can be compared to the rebuilding of New Orleans. At one point in Job’s life, he suffered a lot. The Devil became jealous of Job and he wants Job to curse God. God allowed the Devil to cause Job to suffer, but He told the Devil to not touch his soul. Job lost all of his possessions. He lost all of his cattle, his servants were killed, and also his children were killed. Job accepted what had happened to him and he blessed God. God even allowed the Devil to deprive Job of his good health. Job got sick and was stricken with leprosy. At that point, people began to tell Job to complain to God, including his wife. After everything that has happened, Job did not lose hope in God. He began to prophesize about God to his friends. Then God heard this and He blessed Job with seven more sons, three daughters, twice as much cattle as he had in the beginning, and he lived a long life in good health. This story is similar to the rebuilding of New Orleans in the sense that Hurricane Katrina had destroyed New Orleans. It caused many people to lose their homes, their jobs, and many people even lost their lives. People suffered for months and are still suffering. Now New Orleans is being rebuilt and it is getting a lot better. Many people lost hope in God once Katrina hit, but there were many people, including me, who did not. God allowed New Orleans to recover and to become rebuilt because of these people.
Psalm 22 is about suffering and lament. It is written in a very sad tone and it is similar to what happened in the story of Job. No matter what may happen in any situation, it is always according to God’s plan.
