A picture is worth a thousand words! and I have 3!!

Counter-cultural means to have values and behavior that opposes or counters the present culture of that time. I guess you can say that Jesus was counter-cultural during his time. He was titled the King of the Jews and everyone hated Jews back then. His followers were made up of people that the culture at that time labeled as vile and detestable, like sinners and prostitutes, for example, Mary Magdalene. She committed adultery and was about to be stoned to death, but Jesus saved her and she followed Him ever since. Adultery was seen as one of the worst sins in that culture during that time, but Jesus countered against the culture and saved someone who committed that horrible sin.

My project is not counter-cultural. I don’t see how it can be. I’m trying to decrease the number of hungry people around the world. Helping the world by trying end world poverty is not something that would oppose against today’s culture.  Actually, helping people plays a major part of today’s culture. For example, most colleges expect their students to have a certain amount of comminity service hours before they graduate. They are inforcing the idea that we should willingly want to help the world without receiving any reward in return. There are thousands of movements to help this and change that. Today’s society is used to helping each other. the reason for my project is to help the world, so I would say that my project is actually pro-cultural.
