Week 3

Problems… Problems… Problems… Where to start? Even though I picked three problems on second blog, I wanted to focus on hate but I believe there is not a true solution to fix it. So in reality, I will be blogging on hunger too. Are we doing enough to stop it? What more can we do? Well, hunger is one of the biggest problems in our world today, but many aren’t trying to help this problem. I think one of the reason we have world hunger is due to greed of many. Governments everywhere own billions of acres of land, and will not allow the poor to buy it cheaply to grow their own food. The rich also own hundreds of acres each, everywhere and gather it to crow of their wealth. I worked as a cook in a diner once and I asked the boss if I could give the leftovers being to the homeless. He said,”If I did, I would be wasting his money.” This is how we have become hardhearted as a person. It is a sin how we waste food, and neglect world hunger. Those in control of being able to help are the ones who do not care one bit. Their stomachs are full and they are heartless. What do they care, when power, control and wealth is all they care about. Also the problem is not shortage of food; the problem is mal-distribution of food. World hunger is the fact that most food is created in developing nations.  The cost of packaging, transporting and distributing the food increases the cost of food extremely.  When food can be produced in greater numbers more efficiently in areas geographically closer to where it is needed, costs for this food are lower. When food costs less, more people can buy adequate amounts to feed themselves and their families. We are all guilty of contributing to this problem. Now to return the help, we must give them what they need. They are need of it all. They need money, clothes, food, etc… Even if everyone has to share they will appreciate what we will do for them. For example, I use to participate in an activity called “Walk for the Hunger”, and I felt like I made a difference that day to those suffering in this sense. Although the standard of living has risen all over the world, there are still a lot of parts where natives are living in miserable deficiency. The world hunger figures point out to the fact that not all is flushed with the world and there is more that needs to be done. Urbanized countries can take the proposal and donate their power towards fixing this problem. They can reach out to the poor countries and help them out of the food crisis that they are faced with. Every individual on their part should make it a point to not waste food. This would be in a way our humble contribution towards fighting world hunger.

Next question to be answered is, how does the alphabet democratize civilization? I believe that the alphabet gave them a way and advantage to communicate with each other. At first they used pictographs to explain things, but now that they have an alphabet it explain everything. It can be used for trade, work, etc…The alphabet has changed in many ways. There are many types of alphabet. For example, there is the English alphabet, Spanish alphabet, and even Vietnamese alphabet. Yet even though it can be used for good things, it is used for bad things also. For this reason, people should change that habit.

In conclusion, my answer to the last question is that archaeology helps figure out answers to the “unknown.” People search hard for what they know is here, but it takes time. The way they use their extensive research is tremendously great. They are helping us learn new things too. These scholars are reliant on finding objects and messages of what significant events happened during these times. Without archaeology we wouldn’t know much about our world and its history. Truthfully, if I was able to do the research they do, I would. It just it isn’t possible for me though, I believe… Something new to learn is always good to learn.

I really like when you stated that the problem is not that we have a shortage of food but how we are distributing it. That is so true. On the other hand, I am not too clear on what you want your project to be. It seems like you do community service that you are passionate about so maybe you can contact them and partner up with them to do your project for the class. Just a suggestion….good luck!
