I want to thank to Terry Pham and Quang Vu who read and commented on my project. It is so wonderful to receive your advice. Actually, I know my project is not so clear and I need more detail on that. However, I spent a lot of time while I was writing my project. I read some of project on blog, everyone have good ideas to helping people, such as recycling paper, making food driver, or doing a soup kitchen,,,,,. But I wonder how, when and where you can make your project come true. I never believe that you will let some homeless people or stranger come to your house and you will cook for them. Recycling paper is a good idea that I liked to add on my project too. But I think I will never do it because I don’t know how I can collect paper from, and how I can recycle those papers. It can be my dream which is I cannot do anything right now and maybe I might do it in the future. Going back to my project about environment, I Talking to my neighbor, and my friends about growing trees to produce more oxygen, or I can improve myself to do some good things in front of people so that people can copy me. These things are really simple, but they are in my hand and I believe I can do it.
The patriarchs and matriarchs are not necessarily complete role models. Everyone got mistake, but the difference is that who see their mistake and who do not some of their actions prove to be commendable. In their devotion to God and good works, they stand as role models; the biblical text constantly reminds us of their humanity. Abraham’s devotion to God serves as a model for Christians. Moses was a murderer, but God later used him to deliver the Hebrew people out of slavery from Egypt. The encouragement the patriarchs provide to readers is that God is forgiving Moss’s mistake, then God gave him a chance to takes control and it works out. Moses became an important prophet by Christian, and many other faiths. By Moses, people consider that God is the role model that the patriarchs, matriarchs and other people can follow.
Of the Decalogue, my favorite commandment would be “remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy”. God created six days working and a day for rest is reasonable. The Sabbath is not only showing our worship to God but also making our life more interesting and less boring. Because I think that all work and no play make a dull life. Imagine a world without leisure and enjoyment, we would all be drudges and consequently would be not better than animal. I can only imagine people with bowed shoulders and lower eyes and no hope in their world. As it is things are pretty bad.
The Decalogue fits into the context of ancient Near Eastern Suzerain-Vassal treaties is simple to make people follow, do more good things an avoid bad things. God punished Hebrew people to be Egypt’s slaves because they were not faithful to Him, or God punished Adam and Eva because they did not believe in God and did not obey Him to ate the forbidden fruit . Through the Decalogue, God wanted them to understand that they have only one God who they must love, trust, fear and willing do what His commandments require, because God will punish everyone who breaks these commandments. The Decalogue is as same as justice which is let people understand what is good, bad, right, fair, deserved, appropriate. Originality justice should be viewed in its double capacity as reward for the good and obedient and punishment for the deviant but unfortunately right from the beginning of human society it has been associated with retributive or punitive punishment.
