My Project

Project: Discrimination/Inequality. I decided to address the discrimination/inequality topic because many people go through this almost every single day of their life. I believe that one time or another every person been discriminated by their appearance, attitude, height, weight, intelligence, personality, race, etc.. My plan is to ask my fellow xaverites why people discriminate on certain topics, see how they feel about discrimination, and do they feel it is fair. So I could understand different perspective about inequality/discrimination. Moreover, I can make anonymous calls to companies and organizations that may discriminate towards certain people to get their opinion. In addition, if they think it is fair. There are so many plans I can try, but I doubt if I make a huge impact. Personally, it does not matter to me if I do or if I don’t. As long as, I get my point across about discrimination and inequality.
Reading/ Lecture/ Discussions: Archaeology is the study of arches and the three most important arches in the Bible. In addition, archaeology is the scientific examination of materials remains from humans in the past. It is applied to the lands where biblical stories were set. Archaeology has been called a destructive science because things can only be uncovered once. Modern archaeology relates to the Bible by showing how and the way people during that time lived. I would love to participate in an archaeological excavation of a biblical cite because I think it would be neat, cool, amazing and interesting to see the place that was talked about in the Bible. Most archaeologists use a combination of the horizontal and vertical methods. The vertical section of strata is left unexcavated. The horizontal section is exposed inside the square, while on the outside perimeter, the balks preserve the stratigraphical record. Fictional type theory, a meaning, and exaggeration are what all creation myth have in common. I find “Allegory of the Cave” by Plato to be a very interesting myth because it is a fictional myth about the chain of ignorance. They have true meanings behind the myths.

Spell out more carefully exactly who you will call and why these calls will be helping to fix discrimination. You might think about lecturing in public schools, or by volunteering somewhere.

I strongly agree with discrimiantion being a major issue but I hope you mind me saying that I’m having a difficult time understanding how your plans on this issue will improve the situation. If you don’t mind my suggestion, I would recommend that you teach people ( it doesn’t matter the age) how to deal with this issue and how to rise above it. This sort of information would help out greatly.

I think that your project will definitely shed some light on discrimination. Everyone at some point in time has been discriminated against but no one ever wants to talk about it. Discrimination is one of those dirty little secrets no one wants to let out of their closets. As a suggestion maybe you could start right here on Xavier’s campus and speak about how discrimination has hurt us all and why we as students need to stop discriminating against each other. This is just a suggestion. Good luck with your project and I hope that you do help solve the world’s problems!

You are generally working from a good idea here. I agree that discrimination is a big problem in the world today. Although, personally I don’t really see your point how everyone’s opinion is going to make the situation get any better in the future. To get results, there needs to be action. Just as a suggestion that might work for you, try coming up with a plan that would help people view the differences in other people as a good thing instead of as a negative thing all of the time. Try to help people understand that the world would be a boring place if we saw the same thing all the time.

I also agree with your project problem. Discrimination/inequality is still very much apart of our lives/society/world. Don’t doubt yourself and your ability to make a differance. As long as one person gets the message and perhaps makes them think twice; is a task complete and acceptable.

Many people have different views about discrimination and inequality. I know many African Americans complain about discrimination and inequality, but what is discrimination? I am a well-rounded person. I enjoy learning about different cultures and I definitely believe that there will always be prejudice people in this world.
Here is something to think about. Some of the most discriminative things may be the things you enjoy the most. BET (BLACK Entertainment Television) is a discriminative network. Have you ever heard of WET (WHITE Entertainment Television) or AET (ASIAN Entertainment Televsion)? What about The Jet Magazine? Is there a magazine that includes only white people? What about the UNCF (United Negro College Fund)? Is there a UCCF (United Caucasian College Fund)? Just a few thoughts that I hope you can take heed of.

Discrimination has become one of this nation largest problems. How can the nation allow racist children (Prussian Blue) to spread racists songs? It is freedom of speech they say… Anyhow, there are a lot of reasons why people descriminate. Do you think that companies would really tell you why they are discriminating? Maybe companies that are listed by Diondra above because they have a “good motive”, but I doubt you can get infomation from other companies like departmental or electronics since it would affect their image. Since people are less likely to tell you why they discriminate, ou can try doing anonymous surveys to gather your data and accomplish the purpose of your project. Good Luck!

This is great. Many people do go through this everyday of their lives and what you are doing is great. But I have to agree with Dr. Homan, who will you call and what good would calling them do. Good Luck Zarina!

I think that you project is a good one. But who will you call and what type of organizations will get in contact with. Do you plan on trying to reach people how do the discriminating or just reach the people who have been discriminated against. How do plan to go through with your project. I think you are going in the right direction with your project but I think you need to be more clear and put more details in your project.

You should hold forums with different ethnic groups discussing how to make the world a more racial friendly and equal environment. You should try to convince others to stop all the stereotypes that we have against one another. Good topic!

Your midterm grade reflects good writing but a lack of it, because we’re now finished with week 7. Try to get caught up.

Good Zarina, it seems like you are own the right track. Discrimantion affects everyone. There is discrimation in the work force always. A good way to do about this paper is to state the problem, how to fix the problem, and your views on the it. But, it seems like you are on the right track. Keep up the good work.

I think that your project is very similar to that of Larry Tero’s. Maybe you guys could get together and collaborate. Good luck with your project.
