My hurricane story

My hurricane story goes like this, for the hurricane my family and I evaluated to New Iberia. My brother, nephew, mother, and I stayed in a shelter in New Iberia for the hurricane. My mother stayed in the shelter with my nephew so he could go to school out there. As for my brother and I, we went back home to our father and our house. My father was a true soilder he had stayed and weathered the storm. When my brother and I returned home my father looked skinny. It looked as if he had went from 6ft. 220 pds. to 195 to 200 pds. Once back home at our house in Harvey, Louisiana, a city inside Jefferson Parish on the westbank or across the river, we had to survive withot electricty. We would live off water and meals-ready-to eat for two weeks.
My dad hooked up a fan to his car battery that we had to keep re-charging by starting the engine and letting it run for five minutes, which we would repeat every thirty minutes. The day my brother and I returned home from the shelter in New Iberia my dafd told us that a man had stole a car in our neighborhood and while he was driving it on our street, the cops spotted him and someone said that he had a gun and the cops responded by opening fire six times killing him. Life is funny that way, we can never see into the future but yet we try to plan it so well.
During the hurricane and the events afterwards my family was all we had besides God of course who is allways in the misdt of things since he is the center of the universe. Therefore my family got to know each other better on a personal level, but while gone away my mind was allways on home. My school, my chruch, my home, my father. So eventually thats where I ended up at, back home with my father, my chruch, my home, and returning to my school. My thoughts on the class is that it seem to be interesting and whenever I get a chance to talk about God I count it a blessing because of all that he has done for me and my family. Not to get into a Sunday Baptist pulpit sermon but once I got home I just had to go see my chruch, I wondered to see if it was ready to begin the sunday worshipping services once again. Even away from home I did not forsake the union betwen myself and the Lord. While away in the in the shelter a white christain minister came to the shelter and prayed with the evacuees and preached to us about God’s wrath and mercy.
I took this course because it is part of my requirements in my department, which is political science. Not only that but I have a keen interest like a stated before in theology or the study of God, religion, and christianilty as a whole. My thoughts about the bible and biblical studies are that you should study and know the bible especially if you are or claim to be a christain. I find it funny how alot of people could scream “I’m a christain” and don’t know a thing about the God or the bible, his gospel to all worlds. How can you worship someone who you absolutely know nothing about? So in order to know about God, you have to read the bible like it is written, study to show thyself approve. My background in the bible is the same I think of every christain. I read the bible and go to chruch, I turn to the text that the preacher is going to preach about and I read it to myself as he read it aloud and get into the sermon. To me when the preacher is preaching its kind of like school and the preacher is the teacher and I’m the student. The teacher knows more about the book than you, like the teacher so that he can teach you. It is like the preacher is the teacher and his book is the bible.
For a professional vocation I am going to become a lawyer and then a judge. Being those two important roll models to society is something that I have allways wanted to be every since I saw the movie “Malcom X” and he told his white English teacher that he wanted to become a lawyer. His teacher then told him that a lawyer wasn’t a something for a person of color to be. He then goes on and tells little Malcom X that he should be a carpenter, saying that Jesus was a carpenter. To make a long story short I think it is sad how someone’s words can have an affect on someone’s life and future. All some people really need is a little encouragement in the right direction and they can go far in life and become real powerful respected successful people in America. Theology dosen’t have anything to do with my professional vocation besides the fact that I need it to graduate, so i gues you can say that it has a whole lot to do with my professional vocation in that way. I believe that I can make the course commitments listed in the course commitments.

Good writing. I hope that by the end of the semester you can find a way that links the course to your vocation.
