Dear President Bush,

I am writing this letter in regards to the millions of people around the world who are unemployed. I think with all the job opportunities there are in the world no one should be without a job. With the recent events of hurricane Katrina there are even more people who are without jobs. Without a person having a job they can not survive on their own and they are unable to support their families. I think with your help we can help millions of people who are struggling to get work because they don’t have the skills or because they do not know how to go out and get a job.
The help that I would need from you would be to help me provide people with a workshop that people can attend throughout the united states. I think by having the workshops it will help provide a lot of people with an opportunity to get a job. Some people do not know how to get a job how to fill out a resume. With a workshop it will help people learn how to do these things. With your help we can give people the skills to know how to get a job.

Thanking you in advance.

Sincerely,

Erica Johnson

Dear President Norman C. Frances,

I am writing this letter to you to ask for your help in helping me provide people with jobs. After hurricane Katrina there has been so many people who have been laid off or unable to find a job. What I want to do to help people find a job is to give a workshop every Saturday for one month. The workshop would help people in finding a job, how to write a resume, and what to do when they get on an interview. At the end of the workshop I want to give a job fair.
What I need from you is your permission to use Xavier’s campus to hold the workshops. I would also want to use Xavier’s campus to have the job fair so people can have an opportunity to find a job and for business to be able to hire people. I would also need to use one of the class rooms on campus to conduct the workshops that people would go to so they can get some experience on how to look for and get a job.
I hope you take what I am asking you into consideration, because people who have last their jobs need to get them back and the people who do not know how to get a job needs to learn how to get a job.

Thanking you in advance.

Sincerely,

Erica Johnson

Dear Mayor Ray Nagin,

I am a student from Xavier University and I am writing this letter to you in regards to the recent situation that has occurred after Katrina. Before Katrina there were already so many people who were unemployed. Now that Katrina has hit there are probably twice as many people who are unemployed I think with your help we can get people attend a job workshop to help them improve their skills in how to get a job.
The workshop that I want to hold will help people learn how to write a resume, what to wear when they go on an interview, what to expect when they go on an interview, and how to fill out an application. The workshop will be held on Saturdays for a month. After the workshop I want to give a job fair so people who are looking for a job can find one and the businesses who want to hire people can have that chance. With your help in getting people to come to the workshops we can get people off to a good start in rebuilding their lives after the tragedy that has occurred.

Thanking you in advance.

Sincerely,

Erica Johnson

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Erica Johnson and I am a student at Xavier University of LA. I am writing you this letter because of a project that I an doing for a class. My project is to start a work shop for people who can not get a jog or do not know how to get one. The workshop will help people who do not know how to get a job to learn how to fill out an application, make a resume, how to dress when you go on an interview, and what to expect when you go on that interview. The people who want to take the workshop will go every Saturday for a month. By attending the workshop people will get the basic skills that they will need to go out and look for a job.
After the workshop is over I my plans is to have a job fair so people who are looking for a job can find one a lot faster and easier and for businesses to have the opportunity to hire people to work for them. With your help and experience with giving similar workshops, I think we can help a lot of people find work.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Erica Johnson

Reading/Lectures/Discussions:
To start off the word prophet comes from the Greek word prophets. Prophets means to speak on behalf of another. Biblical prophets are messengers who speak for God. In Hebrew the word prophet is nabi. Nabi means one who is called. In the Hebrew Bible the role of a prophet depends on his or her status as the one who is called be God. A prophets job was not an easy job because God’s messages were not popular with people. To be a prophet they had to predict the future, advise leaders, enact change, perform symbolic acts, and declare oracles. To be a prophet they had to predict the future. Predicting the future was a prophets calling card. A prophet prediction went from picking the gender of someone’s baby to knowing the outcome of a battle. Type of background that a biblical prophet had t come from did not matter. A biblical prophet could have been young or old, rich or poor, brainiacs or simpletons, male or female. Some of Israel’s most popular prophets were women.
Prophets would give advise to leaders because kings realized how important it was to get God’s approval before starting on a particular course of action. Prophets had to also get people to want to change. Prophets worked hard to get people to change their behaviors and their beliefs. Sometimes a prophets message were met with repentance and change. In performing symbolic acts prophets had to show their messages with dramatic action. In declaring oracles prophets had to deliver God’s messages. The word oracles mean these messages. Oracles warned people what would happen if they did not change their ways. The eighth century prophets were Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Micah. Amos was a prophet in the mid-eight century. Amos was one of the earliest of the writing prophets during the prosperous and peaceful years. Because of this situation this made Amos’s mission difficult. During that time it was hard for his message to get across because during this time people did not want to hear the warning that a prophet gave when times were good. Amos was critical of Israel’s privileged position as God’s chosen because it was more accountable then the other nations. Amos believed that God was the champion of social justice and that he defended the unprivileged and the poor.
The another prophet of the eighth century was Hosea. Hosea during the latter half of the eighth century. During this time many kings were assassinated and it was days before Assyrian empire would destroy the nation. This was also during time that God tells Hosea tells him to marry a prostitute. God tells Hosea to marry a prostitute because God felt that Israel has been prostituting itself by not obeying his laws and by worshiping other gods.
Isaiah was also a prophet of the eighth century. Isaiah was a prophet during the time of Israel’s difficult time. They had their difficult time from 742 to 700B.C.E. Isaiah’s message from God was that Judah was going to be destroyed. God’s plans were to punish the people of Israel without having any reservations about doing so. Isaiah’s most famous prophecies were that he predicted that God would will give a great age of judgment and with that would follow would be peace. The second famous prophecy was that Isaiah predicted that a young woman would give birth to a boy named Immanuel. The last prophet of the eighth century was Micah. During Micah time of being a prophet he seen that because of the nation’s sins that not only will Israel but Judah as well will be destroyed.
The message changed in the sixth century because they were out to motivate people to rebuild God’s Temple. One had visions that were about a king ruling over Israel. Then that same prophet predicted that the govern would one day be a king. My favorite prophet in the bible would have to be Haggai because this prophets prophecy was to motive people. The prophet that relates to my project would be Haggai because was out to motivate people and that is what I want to do. I want to help people have the drive to want to succeed in life.
