Week 14.

1087 words by Johnpaul

I am glad to have finally arrived. It has been quite an interesting course in deed, one that has exposed me to so many things i knew not and honestly challenged some of the fundamental truths i have always known as a catholic. T o be honest the course seemed to be easy at firts, or so ithought, considering that we do not have class trests or exams, i really thought it would be a breeze ( boy did it prove to be the contrast!) In any case and needless to say i enjoyed it. I enjoyed the class conversations, the active participation of fellow students, the narratives of Dr. HOMAN, the sense of HUMOR thereof, the digression sometimes into interesting and yet fundamental ideas and so on. I thoroughly enjoyed it all!
In any case, before i start explaining what my grade should be and the reasons why, i would want to take time out to update again the extent i have gone with my research and project implementation. I shall divide them accordingly
1) Foremost, I have designed, printed and posted some fliers regarding the Darfur incident in my neighboorhood ( which happens to be a block of read blvd in new Orleans East and therefore has a small population, no thanks to the flood!) howver, since i am moving in about a week to Metairie, i shall take my cmpaign with me to a more robust location ( after all the inciodent in Darfur is still occuring)
2) I just recently earned a new endevour ( a job!) and i intend to share the message there once i am done with the process of ” adaptation” there. I shall create awareness theree as well with the help of my cousin and some of my colleagues helping me out. I am still working on getting approval with the postings regulation on campus to allow me to post my fliers within the school premises, i keep my fingers crossed about that , hopefully they will.
3) Like i relayed earlier, i have written several petitions to the white house and signed postcards accordingly on the darfur incident, asking the white house to increase its presence there in pursuant of peace. I have also writen the letters we were asked to write on the earlier blog and i await a response from the concerned authorities.
$ ) I have liased with the save darfur coalition, Florida chapter ( they were responsible of generating 50000) votes towards the national postcards to the white house. I only await their approval so we can start a chapter here.
5) In general, i can comfortably say that i have increased awareness about this scourge to a reasonable amount of persons.
MY GRADE AND REASONS
In a true, objective and unbised analysis of my work and its qualty , i trully beleive that i should get an “A” for the following reasons
1) The qualtiy of my work. From the onset of this project and class up until this day, i have made an active and constructive effort to make sure that the quality of my work is profound. i take a detailed approach to the analysis of the subject matter, extending my narratives well while making sure i do not diverge or loose focus on relevance. I utlize an extensive example to describe each subject matter which renders my work potent and thorough. This in turn makes the reading of my work enjoyable, concrete, complete and concise and i tn=hink this trait is rather uncommon and is a product of my effort. I have also realised that this method invariably enhances the quantity of words blogged in my work and it happens almost sub consciously , owing to the fact that the passion to explain thoroughly has to be done utilizing extensive narratives which in turn demands an increase in the number and volume of the vocabulary used. in other words, though it is not primarily intended, my blogs at least exceed 1700 on the average every week, if i am not mistaking, i have had a blog that exceeded 2000 words in one week. I guess the beauty of mine is that it happens almost accidentally, all as a result of having so much to say in the context.
2) The timeliness of my work. Although noit excercised lately due to some constraints, i always trie d to maintain a timely blogg entry, ensuring that the bloggs are in at the time they are required to be there. This was not easy at all, especially considering that I am also trying to blog my thoughts in detail and not merely reaching the 1500 mark. In any case, my work has been timely , as much as i can physically and humanly produce and it has not been easy at all.
3.) The project i chose and its rarerity. While choosing the herculean tasks of attacking genocide in the most prosperous and perhaps safest country in the world, the decision did not come easy. I recall receiving several comments inituially from my comrades, commendin g my valor and wishing me luck and i want to use this medium to thank you all, ( you know who you all are ) and i hope your work has been fruitfull! ( i bet your work has been fruitfull cause i have followed your blogs, many thanks) In any case, my persistence was born trully of two components, one , i am African and so i am intune , on a personal note with the affairs of Darfur and secondly, i have been to the regiona and so i can relate to their sufferings. In any case, i twas not easy, to talk to persons here about Darfur and having to start by foremost explaining where it is ( and if you meet a peculiar one, you would formost have to explain how Africa is a continent, not a country first!) and afterwards, you would then undertake the task of explaining what genocid is. When compared to issues like AIDS and STDS which are general knowledge, the brilliance, rarerity, importance and relevance of my project stands out and this is a reflection of my passion about the subject matter, persistence, knowledge and dedication which is another strong reasons why i know i desrve an “A”
4)My description of the parable we were asked to relate to our project implemetation was strong, comprehensive and vivid. I trully narrated the idea based on the same methodology that was utlized in the bible, using old english and quotations accordingly. this took time and effort and is examplary of the work of one seeking an “A”
