And here it comes, the much awaited end of the end of the blog as well as the sesmester ( boy am i glad its almost over). I shall address a few course evaluation issues here accordingly, based on my experience and analysis.
HOW THE COURSE GAVE STUDENTS A LEVEL OF EXPERTISE IN THE DISCIPLINE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES
Foremos, lika i allready explained in my earlier blog entries, the intuitive advancement i have mad , ever since witnessing the potential energy of this course has been profound. Prior to the course, i was a staunch cathi=olic, subscrining to the basic tenets of my creed and religion and questioning nothing. Having been raised by a strong catholic family, well embellished in the catholic ways and its conduct, there were certain issues concerning the church that i did not challenge, nor did i question. For instance, the issue concerning the trinity of Christ, the idea behind Christmas, the concept of Sabath and so on. In earnest, having been exposed to this course and its objectives, i have attained a better understanding behind some of these issues and practices. The idea of Sabbath, as i have learned accordingly is an original Hebrew parctice, observed o n the seveth day of the week which invairably falls on saturday. Howver,accodring to theological studies, the fact that the catholics observe it on a sunday is a mere reflection of their insistence on being different from all the others, in order to become unique. Al though i am not fully subscrin=bing to these nascent theories, due to my firm belief in the catholic doctrine, it still give me a potential and logical question to ponder. Another issue concerning Christmas arises , concerning the actual birthdate of Jesus Christ, the course and its objectives has relayed to me the logical truth concerning this. Owing to its logical nature, the course analyses issues, not based on faith but based on pure truth and reasoning. These qualities enable one to fully understand and embrace certain ideas adequtely. Another issue is concerning the actual birthdate of Christ. The course anbled me evaluate critically the precision of the birthdate of Christ. It is obtainable that the actual date may have been a few years off from what the entire world recognises it to be, 2006 years ago. In other words, Christ may have not bee trully born on the 25th of December, 2006 years ago! such knowledge is profound and potential enough to totally revolutionise ones rational sequence and beliefs.
Another skill that enhanced my expertise inthe area of biblical studies that i earned from this course relates to Textual criticism, literal criticism and historical criticism. These three fundamental critical procedures are all profound tools that ealy theologians, as well as contemporary ones utilised in enhancing the understanding of some biblical texts. these tools were either used to establish the originality of certain texts or to assess the validity of their claims. More so, the author’s competence was also ascertained accordingly and any discrepancy was exposed. These invaluable tools and its implementation was made known to me trhough the course objectives, it has invariably enhanced my expertise in this field.
BIBLE READING
This course also helped me in the areas of inquiry. It exposed the various skills required for a thorough understanding of the Bible. According to my earlier belief, the Bible is the sole product of the thoughts of God and the words contained therein are precise, clear and unbised and therefore , cannot be subjected to scrutiny. However, after studying this course and the enlightenment i gathered from same, i have come to realise that the bible is really a product of the human capabiltity, although extensively influenced by God, ( especially the old testament), it is still a product of human abilities. Howver, i refuse to agree the discrepancies contained in the Bible ( if any trully) is based on the original collections, it must have been incurred from translation and further modification. In any case, the course has enabled me read the critically and with good judgement. More so, i have been introduced to many more variations of the Bible besides the notable King James version.
