Global Warming is a Serious Matter

As a partial scientist, I think that humans are to blame for the currently observed trends of global warming and climate changes. Human activity is reshaping the composition of the atmosphere through the buildup of greenhouse gases. Although global warming is a fact, uncertainty exists about exactly how Earth’s climate responds to greenhouse gases. Global warming has been a theme of much discussion lately. How can we determine what is causing global warming? How can we prevent global warming? How can we adjust as the climate changes?
Both, television and radio ads play a major role in getting information across to persons. But actions are still not being taken, because people really do not understand the environment we live in. I would like to establish some kind of group that teaches about environmental safety in pre-k throught twelfth grade. If kids learn about the environment at an early age, they will become more environment oriented. Meaning that as they become older, they will be able to save our environment and become more wiser at finding better techniques and solutions to energy usage and maintaining whats left of the environment.
Climate change, such as global warming, is a global problem that requires actions of improvement from the entire international community. According to the EPA countries from around the world, including the United States, are working together to share technologies, experience, resources and talent to lower total greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the threat of global warming. These efforts, commonly referred to as Technology Cooperation, can occur between nations, private entities, and organizations around the world. International efforts are in progress to try to establish practices for land use, land use change and forestry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase carbon sinks.
A unique project that I am definetely considering is called the greenhouse gas inventory projcect. Through this program, I want to pursue policies, laws and regulations that are hoped to result in the decrease of greenhouse gas emissions.
One of the main sources of global warming is fossil fuels which are burned for energy at any level. In this project, I hope to promote the idea that natural gases should replace other fuels such as coal, oil and gasoline, and that we should still limit the burning of even natural gases. It is also suggested that the government should create car-less cities in cities where the populations are less than fifty thousand persons, where citizens can only walk, ride bikes or use public transportation to get around inside the city. Yet another suggestion is to require citizens to drive electric cars, or electric hybrid cars, to reduce the amount of pollution put into the atmosphere by driving. A less popular action would be to limit the amount of gasoline available to each citizen over a certain amount of time, making them unable to contribute any more pollutants than anyone else is allowed.
Do not think for a minute that transportation is the only area where action can be taken, household appliances, heating or cooling equipment, consumer electronics, or office equipment also have an affect on the environment. According to the Consumer Federation of America Foundation, CFAF, the average home causes more air pollution than the average car. The CFAF also states that a household that buys “energy efficient equipment” instead of standard new equipment can considerably lower the emissions of carbon dioxide over the lifetime of the appliances, that is a pollution savings comparable to taking a car off the road for seven years. This idea can easily be connected to Louisiana. Right now as a city we are currently trying to rebuild our lives and make our homes more efficient and tougher. If we, as New Orleanians began to set a trend with more efficient home products and limit some sources of transportation such as instead of getting two to three cars per house hold, maybe one to two would be awesome. Another big issue would be to make larger sources of transportation much more cheaper and more electricity efficient such as the RTA or the Gray Hound Bus Station so that individuals who live and work in nearby areas can reduce the effects of global warming. I know that these ideas may sound dull and boring BUT believe me when I say that we will get a better climate range, reduce the amount of hurricanes, tornado’s and mud slides in the next thirty years or so.
Another major goal of my project would be to get individuals to understand that its not mother nature who makes herself a better place, it’s the persons who live in mother nature who can make a big difference in global warming. Citizens can get involved with organizations to attract the attention of the government as well as following a couple of the suggestions made above. People can drive less, or use more efficient cars, smoke less, even cigarette and pipe smoke are pollutants, and replace their appliances and household products with more energy efficient ones. Global warming is a problem, and it won’t go away without the cooperation of the world and it’s inhabitants. I know that this is a tough project and that there are many organizations around the world trying to fight this exhausting problem.
Basically my project would be to set up an environment where we can boost energy efficiency, create better sources of transportation. Choose or create better biofuels and/ or renewable energy and return carbon to the ground.
It is amazing to me that a country that makes up five percent of the worlds population, uses forty percent of the green house gases produced in the world. So, as an individual, are you involved or are you committed to making our world a better, safer, and more stable environment?
I would definitely like to get Louisiana on the roll with the awareness of global warming since we are losing our wetlands at a rate that is constantly growing. Our sources of protection from bodies of water is being destroyed by causes of global warming.
