MY PROJECT

The problem that I’m addressing is homeless people. My first step in helping them get back on their feet is to find housing/shelter for them, and then try to help them find a job. If the person is homeless due to abuse or mentally illness, I will try to seek them help from doctors.
EDIT: I sent an E-Mail to UNITY (http://www.unityforthehomeless.org/) a few days ago asking what I can do to help, up to this point I still did not get a response from them yet.

This entry needs more specifics. I’d advise you to first find an organization that does this and ask what you can do to help them.

I already sent an E-Mail to UNITY (http://www.unityforthehomeless.org/) and ask them what I can do to help the homeless and still waiting for their response.

Yes, there are a lot homeless people out there. Helping them get back on their feet will stop them from wandering the streets and begging for money. I find this very distracting. I am ashamed when people from out of the state come visit and see how degrading our city looks. What homeless shelter are you working with? You should find an area that is close to the shelter so that there is no need for transporation. Good Luck.

This sounds like a really good idea for starters on your project. There are shelters also for abused individuals such as Lousiana Colation Against Domestic Violence which helps those who are seeking shelter from Domestic Abuse. If you start with a couple of shelters , I’m sure that they have a larger list of shelters in the areas that you could also contact. Also how do you plan on finding or approaching these individuals? If someone is homeless due to a mental illness of some sort, they might have a tendancy toward violence and definitely need medical help. So please be careful and good luck with your project!

Sounds good so far. Poverty and homelessness is a major problem in New Orleans. Asking UNITY where you can help was a great idea, because they already have ideas of what to do and where. Since they did not respond, I think you should contact them again. Good luck on your project.

This is a good idea because the percentage of people that are homeless is becoming greater and greater as the years go by. Do you plan on actually going out and informing these homeless people that you have somewhere for them to stay. This might be a difficult project to put together. It’s great if you work with Unity so that way you could work with their organization. You might also want to try and look for businesses that wouldn’t mind giving a job to someone that may need it especially if they are homeless. It’s possible to get done though. GOOD LUCK!

Thank you for commenting on my project. I agree that this is a difficult project and that is why I’m trying to seek help from an organization like UNITY. So far UNITY haven’t give me a response yet, so I will either have to go look for another organization or abandon this project and start a new one. Asking businesses to hire homeless people to work was one of the plans that I had in my mind. Once again thanks for stopping by and posting your valuable comments. I am too trying to help the homeless people. Many people have been displaced by the hurricane, and there is no one here to help them. I do not know what UNITY is but it sounds great. How exactly are your going to help the homeless? Are you going to raise money? Are your going to help build homes? Anyway best of luck to you on this project.
