How My Project is Coming Along?

So far my project is coming along just find. I called several schools in the Metro area. Those schools were McDonogh #35, McMain, St. Mary Academy, and Warren Easton. I am waiting for the principal at those schools to contact me. In the mean time, I went to several healthcare facilities to gather up my sources. I went to Crescent City Physicians, Family Planning, and my Primary Care Physicians for information about known and unknown diseases, Aids, and HIV. Some of those facilities gave me pamphlets, condoms, and magazines. I went to the library and gather other sources about information on these many diseases that are silently killing our youth, peers, friends, and family members. It totally stunned me to see the outcome and statistics about these diseases. One book I checked out was Color Atlas of Oral Manifestations of Aids by: Sol Silverman Jr., M.A., D.D.S. It showed horrific images of those who have been infected orally. It amazed me totally. After leaving the library, I began working on my speech and Power Point presentation.
On October 16, Warren Easton principal called and told me it was O.k. for me to speak to their kids. They informed me that I was going to talk to their Ninth Grade students and the date that was given was November 1. I was glad to hear this. I anticipated this for so long. This gave me a week to practice my speech. I was not sure how I was going to speak to them. I did not want to come on to strong, and I definitely did not want bored them. I went to several places and rehearsed to my church, relatives and even my job. They all applauded and begin commenting about what they have learned.
Finally the day arrived. I went to the auditorium with my laptop, poster boards, box condoms, and pamphlets. I introduced myself and told them my history. I told them I was a teen-age statistic and how I became pregnant at the age of sixteen. I told them I was hard headed and did not listen to adults about sex and its many problems, however; I did let them know I did not have a Sexually Transmitted Disease, but that does not mean that they would not get disease if they have sex unprotected.
I saw the expression on some of their faces. Some were making faces like here we go again, and others were focus on what I had to say. When I started the slide show, they were amazed to see how these diseases looked and how serious this problem is. I kept the speech going and at the end of the session the questions were coming from every part of the auditorium. I answered all questions, and I later passed out the pamphlets with the free clinics numbers on them. I even gave them advice about going to their school nurse, closes relative, and even their parents if they suspect any unusual lesion on the sex organ and mouth. I also told them if they could not talk to their parents to contact their doctor immediately, so they could catch the disease before it is too late to treat it. Right before they exited the auditorium, I asked that pick up condoms from the box that were sitting by the door.
I am glad I had a chance to do an assignment like this. It helped me to help others as well as myself. I have learned so much doing this project, and I will continue to preach to kids about Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

The roles that the biblical prophets performed were Predicting the future, Advising leaders, Enacting change, Performing symbolic acts and declaring oracles. With predicting the future they predicted sex of an unborn, predicted outcomes of battles and also they would tell their listerners what was on God minds. With the biblical prophets they would range from young or old, rich or poor, brainiacs or simpletons or even male or female. There were three Major Prophets: Isiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel and twelve minor prophets. The reason God picked so many, he needed a range of people to deliver His messages. “The writings of the Major Prophets are quite long, each filling their own scrolls, while the Minor Prophets are considerably shorter, and are written all on one scroll”. The most memorable prophet of them all was John The Baptist. He was the forerunner to Jesus.

Chantrice it seems as if your project is coming along great and I am quite sure that we you deliver your speech to the students at the other schools they will probably be open and accepting as these students were. I like the fact that you are wiling to go out into the community and talk to these young women and men who are having unprotected sex because even though they hear it time and time again, you may be the one to really make a difference in their lives. Taking in perspective the decision that you are awaiting from the other two high schools, would you like to continue working on this project alone becaue you could probably find someone to help you plan everyting out. I think that this project shows your maturity and how much you care as an individual to tell your life story wtih a group of kids so that they dont make the same mistakes that you did. This is a great project that will definitely change someones life.

Chantrice, your project is one of great importance in this day and age. It is important that children hear the truth about these very dangerous and life-staging diseases that are associated with unprotective sex. I feel that students are more prone to listen to someone their own age that has experienced such situations and learn from your experiences the easy way. I am glad that you had a good outcome on your first speech to the high school students. Hopefully, you can continue to inform and inspire high school students to play it safe when it comes to sex.

Wow! I’m really impressed with the success of your project. You have to be really brave to do that. Not only must you be open enough to tell your story to complete strangers, but to go and talk to an auditorium full of high school freshman. Keeping their attention and respect is a chore in itself ,but it seems that you did an awesome job. Congratulations! Keep up the good work and perhaps you can contact other schools or re-communicate with the ones you called before on setting up more STD and HIV/Aids talks. The awareness is definitely always needed.

Chantrice, I am really impressed with your project. I don’t think anyone took the initiative to talk to young adults about unprotected sex. It is good that you are trying to inform them of the consequences of having unprotected sex. It is even better that you are speaking from experience and can set a good example. I commend you for your courage and ability to speak in front of impatient teenagers. I suggest not only you talk about your experience but also give stats and the facts about STD’s and HIV/AIDS. We need more people like you that is willing to tell their life stories.

Hey Chantrice, I think you have done a great job with your project. You made sure you where fully prepared with all the research you did before putting together your presentation. I think it was good that you practiced in front of church members and people at your job to prepare you for the presentation at the school. I admire you presenting in front of high shool students because they can be a tough crowd. It sounds like you kept their attention throughout the whole presentation which is good. What also is good that they asked questions after your presentation showing that they where listening. I believe you made a difference in their lives by just giving them the information that you did. Great Job!!!

Chantrice, I commend you for your project. I love how you incorporated your own personal experiences in with your presentation, i feel as though that lets the kids know that it is real out here in these streets and that you can not take your young life for granted. When it is all over and your grown up, you wont have anything to show for it but possibly children and sexually transmitted diseases. I am glad that you did this project, more peopl eneed to do what you did and they need to as real with it as you were so that the youth take it seriousl and wont make the same mistakes that they may have grown up in or experienced themselves. Excellent job.
