I know that many people are scared of to go to the doctor. I will let them know that getting tested for High blood pressure are nothing to be scared of. There are no needles involve when getting tested unless if left untreated thank you for commenting my blogs.
I will The story begins by describing Tobit who as a very kind person whom walk in the way of truth and performs many act of charity for his people (the Israelites). At the time Israel was conquered by the Assyrians so most of the people were exiled to Assyrians homeland. Tobit lived in Nineveh. The also tells that during his charity works he lended a bag of silvers worth ten talents to Gabael.
During that time the King killed many Israelites out of anger. Tobit who was kind hearted search for the body and buried the dead in secrecy. But the king found out so he wanted Tobit dead. Tobit ran and all of his properties were confiscated. He later returns to his family when the kind was murdered by his sons.
At the Pentecost festival Tobit asked his son Tobias to go outside and invite any poor people who believed in god to dine with him. When Tobias return saying he found a dead body in the market place, Tobit got up and search for the body to bury it. People criticize him because they would think that he would have learned his lesson the first time. Tobit was sad so he went outside, mourn and fell asleep by the wall. He did not notice that bird was on top of him so their droppings fell into his eyes and he was blind.
Tobit thinks that he is dying so he tells his son Tobias to live a righteous path. What he meant is he want his son to live like him, be generous and never hate. He also wants to leave Tobias with some money so he tells him about the bag of silver worth ten talents that Gabael owes. He wants Tobias to go find for himself a guide to Media.
Tobias went out and found the angel Raphael who disguised himself as a human. He asked if Raphael can take him to Media and he agree to pay.
They journeyed along the Tigris River until nightfall and went into the river to wash their feet. A giant fish jump up and try to swallow their feet and they caught it. They cut open the fish to get the heart, gall, and liver then ate the rest. Raphael told Tobias that the heart and liver have effects that scare away any unwanted spirit or demons. The gall has medicinal value and that it can cure the eye.
In media Raphael told Tobias that he must sleep at the house of his relatives Raguel because he must marry his daughter Sarah. She was married 6 times and everyone of her husband was killed by a demon during their wedding night. Tobias went to Raguel house and demanded that Sarah be married to him. Raguel warned him that 6 of her husband were killed on their wedding night. But Tobias insisted that Sarah be married to him. Raphael instructed Tobias to pray to god and burn the heart and liver with incense on their wedding night. So, Tobias did what he was instructed and a demon was exorcised from Sarah and fled to a remote part of Egypt. Raphael chased after the demon and slays it.
In the morning Tobias tells Raphael to go to the house of Gabael and take the money and invite him to the wedding between Tobias and Sarah. In the mean time Tobit at home was counting the days that past since his son left. He believes that Tobias was detained or killed.
When Tobias returned to his father he used the gall on his father’s eye. The gall cured Tobit’s eye just like Raphael said and Tobit was able to see again. Raphael then later tells them his true identity as one of god’s seven angels. He gave them instructions on the way god wanted them to live. Before Tobit dies he instructed Tobias to leave for Media because god told him that Nineveh would be destroyed.
During the time of Maccabees, King Antiochus was an evil ruler. He forces anybody to denounce their religion. Forinstance circumcision was considered illegal. He also destroyed the Israel temples and defiled it. He destroyed the house of Judah and house of David. What makes a hero is the person has to be courageous and fight for what they believe in. Maccabees is considered a hero is because he does not fear his enemies. The reasons he fights because he wants to keep his ancestor laws, religions, and cultures. All of his followers believed in him. Whenever he goes into battle he always tell them that god is with them and not to be afraid. Another reason why Maccabees is consider a hero because he has people that have faith in him. In the story when his armies are out numbered his followers listen to his order and never question him. He also believes in god and would die to protect his religion. He was able to destroyed Antiochus armies when they are outnumbered because he knows that god gives him strength. This is the reason why he is considered a hero.
