~13~ Improving the World one Person at a Time!!!

I don’t think that my project with neither the library or with helping out at the church improved the world. On the other hand I would agree that the library will help the entire city of New Orleans. Who knows maybe even the state of Louisiana. And as for the church it probably helped the community a great deal by having some extra pair of hands helping them out so more people can get service at a faster pace. I wish that I was able to improve the world and leave a lasting impression on more than just a few people that were from that neighborhood. At the same time maybe by me helping out, someone’s life has been improved and maybe they’ll be the one to make a difference. There were quite a middle school and high school students that were also there. So maybe by them seeing me as a being older and still deciding to give my time they just might continue to do the same. Especially since it wasn’t even the church that me and my family are members of. The best part about it is that we didn’t make them feel as though they were of less fortune and that we were above them. We sat with them, talk to them and even ate with them.
However I don’t feel as though that these three months from the semester is enough time for one person to improve something about our world by themselves but then again anything is possible. I did tell the pastor at the church that I will make sure to keep in touch with them so I can always come back. They were very friendly and what they are doing by holding these luncheons is to make people whom are needy feel the holiday spirit as well. That was the basis of their theme for holding this during the holidays: So the Less Fortunate can have the same Holiday Experience as we do. Although this was my first year even hearing about their service they have been doing over the years now. More than likely it will continue and maybe they’ll be able to expand so that their not the only church around the area that’s doing it. The more churches the better and I actually brought that idea to them to talk 2 the other churches in the neighborhood about the doing the same. At least if there is one church in every city that would be a great asset. I’m sure they can help out, so me improving the world is hopefully in progress.

Many people argue about the issue of who is to be blamed for nailing Jesus to the cross. Also, there are arguments about why he was crucified. The Jews and Romans, opposed Jesus’ preaching and him, in general. Therefore, they just didn’t like him and they were waiting for his downfall. They found Jesus guilty on false witnesses and a false conviction. He even forgave those that nailed him to that cross; he is a loving and forgiving God. He was accused of blasphemy, because he said he was the King of the Jews. The words of God were considered to be blasphemous, for the reason that they didn’t believe him. He was the Messiah, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Many of them didn’t accept his gospel and his teachings. The argument is Jesus was crucified in order for his people to be free from their sins. He died for our sins and we should worship and praise him for all he has done for us.
In the holy bible, both Paul and James had some very understandable and reasonable aspects when it comes to the Faith vs. Works conflict. First off, each of their views basically comes from the same perception that the Faith vs. Works was quite important for them to abide by and comprehend. In addition, they mutually agreed that salvation comes from our Lord, Jesus Christ and also our God, the creator of heaven and earth; this meaning that it is not from us and the things that we ultimately accomplish. Even though they agreed on those terms of the Faith vs. Works, they still have different point of views. Paul had his own specific set of rules, while James on other hand has his personal regulations as well. Paul did indeed believe in God’s work, nevertheless it was based on the work of the laws. These were the Jewish and Mosaic Laws, which consisted of the laws of circumcision, sacrifices, and dietary restrictions. Paul’s belief is logical because laws are a big part of the Christian life. Then, James’ belief states that good works are basic acts of kind contributions. These certain charities are composed of caring for widow, orphans, and the poor, and love for neighbors. These factors are also very important in leading a Christian life, having faith and good works go hand in hand with each other. Accordingly, one that performs these good works, does have a strong faith in God, and are fulfilling those laws
Overall, personally I agree more with James’ judgment on the Faith vs. Works conflict for the fact that I believe God and Jesus Christ would want everyone to donate their time effort to help others. Jesus reportedly teaches that good works or deeds rooted in an internal change of spiritual growth within the person. So therefore one cannot grow spiritually if they do not have charitable ways about them. Our faith should be just as strong as our charitable and loving ways. I was always taught that God desires for all men to care about others and with that, performing charitable behaviors that will assist in the happiness of different individuals. I believe that should be our main goal in life, while maintaining an upstanding relationship with God, by obeying him and living the Christian life. Although it is right and necessary to have laws to abide by, I feel that I live and work more closely to what James’ feel is the righteous way of God’s work.
