Blog #2: Three Problems

1056 words by Tha10thletter

Three major problems facing the world today are poverty, violence and the lack of leaders. These three problems are destroying our society as the days pass us by. These problems are only making things worse. Each problem is affecting each other in one way or another. Violence is the result of so many people living in poverty. There are no positive influences to tell our society what they can do to make their communities a better one. Unfortunately, the world’s future does not look too bright. However, I have a few ideas on how we can make things a lot more better. Poverty has been a serious problem since the beginning of time. Poverty exist in every country. Social ranks and classes have been in existence since the beginning of time. There will always be wealthier individuals in a social structure. However, poverty does not necessarily have to exist just because someone is wealthier than the next man. Poverty is the lack of what we classify as normal everyday possessions. The Americas have a high poverty level. However, the Americas poverty is nothing compared to places such as Africa, Asia, and Australia. People recognize that their is poverty in these areas, however, those who have attempted to deplete poverty completely have failed. There are many organizations and people trying to reduce the poverty level in the world. But unfortunately, their contributions change nothing. One person can not change this growing “epidemic” alone. This task of removing poverty from the world seems almost impossible to some. Selfishness and lack of knowledge is causing this problem to become a bigger one. Poverty isn’t talked about as much as it should be. People do not realize that poverty causes many other things such as, violence. Violence is one of the biggest problems going on in todays world. It seems like people are killing each other every 60 seconds. Religion is the result of violence in many parts of the world. People are killing others as well as themselves because of what they “believe” their higher being has told them, gangs are killing for respect, our governments are killing people in war and some are just killing just because they have the power to kill. Billions of people have died for no reason. Who has the right to decide whether one lives or dies? A person spends half of their life struggling, and some random person has the right to kill that person because of where that person is from? This makes absolutely no sense at all. I don’t remember a time where the streets of New Orleans have been safe enough to walk around in. Violence continues to increase in the city we live in as time passes by. The violence is even moving closer to my home. Just last week I heard four gun shots. Something like this never happens in my neighborhood. Something like this showed me exactly why we never know where and when something like this will happen. Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to label who is a criminal until after a crime has taken place. The influence of television, video games, and harsh music lyrics are only fueling the violence. In addition, I would like to say I have been an loyal supporter of the hip hop community since a very young age. However, I have to admit that many of the rapper’s lyrics are influencing our people the wrong way. Its something that we all have to recognize and attempt to change together. Our world needs individuals who are brave enough to speak their mind in an attempt to change the world. Which brings me to my next topic, leaders. When I say leaders I don’t mean the President or Pope. I am referring to individuals who take it upon themselves to positively influence those in need of change. In my opinion, Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, and Tupac Shakur are some of the only people in the past 30 years that deserve the title of a leader. It seems as though no one is stepping up to the plate to take this responsibility. Therefore, I believe that I will take on the responsibility to become a role model for young people. I will set good examples for young males and females and show them exactly how exciting life can be without the problems they choose to in cooperate in their lives. Hopefully, in the future I will create one of the most advanced computers man has ever seen. If I am able to do this I will have changed the world forever. This will show people that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to as long as you stay focused. Hopefully, this new discovery will give me enough credibility to influence people around the world.

A stele is a stone with in scripted words or pictures. The Merneptah stele is an inscription that shows the Egyptian Pharaoh Merneptah’s military victories. It is also one of the few historical documents dating back to before the time of Jesus that is not out of the Bible. This is proof that Israel was real and not something made up.
The Babe Ruth movie was an excellent example of how stories are changed over time. In the 1948 movie of Babe Ruth, Ruth promises a young man he will hit him a home run in the World Series. However, in the 1992 version Ruth promises the boy he will hit two home runs in a regular game. This is similar to the Bible because people usually interpret things how they want them to be. People tend to change things they way they see them.
“The Bible” is not just something you pick up from Barnes & Nobles on a Friday afternoon. Bible means different things to different people. The word Bible means book. However, the bible is not just a book. It is many books combined, however, it is not just some big novel. Some things we may never know, but we sure will continue this expedition to find out the truth behind our puzzling history.
