My Project

243 words by SonKim

For this project, I plan on working with Habitat for Humanity to fight the problem of poverty in the world. Though I am not useful with my hands for building a stable house, I am able to work hand and hand with the organization to retrieve living necessities for the families to be comfortable in their new homes. With the name “Habitat for Humanities” behind me, I hope to be able to get donations from different organizations and help from other people to collect furniture, clothes, toys, and other living needs for each family. Habitat for Humanities is a world-wide organization, building homes for the less fortunate. These people work to put smiles on families’ faces and give families hope that tomorrow will be a better day. This will not be an issue that can be fixed within a semester. Poverty is a problem all over the world. Even so, I hope to be able to continue with my idea and help one family at a time. I hope this would influence other people to lend a helping hand and make people more aware of the issue of poverty. With everyone working as a team, we are able to fight the war on poverty and hopefully, one day, have everyone on equal standing with one another.
So I need all everyone’s help to start collecting living items to bring a better life for other people.

Habitat for Humanity is an excellent organization and you have very good ideas. A good way to start is by posting signs and making calls to get the donated items. It is best to call furniture, clothing, and appliance stores. They can provide large items that can be vital to a new home owner. I also think that you should ask the University would they be willing to donate something like computers. In today’s world everyone needs to have a computer or at least access to one.

This is a good idea son, poverty is a big problem all over the world and you will be one of thousands to be the one to put a change to poverty. Building homes for the less fortunate and putting them under a roof will help them realize that there are opportunities out there for them to make a change. My project is dealing with HUNGER, maybe i can donate canned foods.

I really like this idea to help fight poverty in the world. I also like the idea of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. In todays world there are many people living in poverty and they can not get out of it and it is up to us to do something about it. The more work we put forth the more we can see the world becomming a better place. When you do start the project I would like to help you out in anyway I can. Good luck on everything with your project.

Collecting donations for poor people is a good idea for a project. There are many poor people in the world, especially in third world countries, who are unable to provide themselves furniture and clothes. Getting people to donate old furniture and clothes is a good way to start dealing with poverty. It will make those who donate feel good that they helped the world in a way, and it will also make the poor people feel good because they know there are people out there that care and want to help them.

Son this a pretty good idea. I helped out ith Habitat for Humanity once and I felt good about it. Its a good feeling to have when you know you’ve helped someone get on their feet and open the doors to their OWN first home.

It is always good to help those less materially blessed than ourselves. I think it is a good idea for you to work with an already established organization because you can influence more people to join the cause when they see that you are working with a reputable establishment. I hope that you are successful in your endeavors.

Great idea for a project! Its good that you have realize that although you may not have the talent of builiding a house, there are other equally important was that you can get involved and make a difference. Being that we are living in the after-math of Hurricane Katrina, I’m sure it will be very easy for you to make the project long-lasting. Please be sure to let us ( the class) know of any way that we can help. What your doing is very special.

I think that working at Habitat for Humanity is a great idea! My project deals with the issue of poverty too, and I wish I would have thought of working with this organization. I feel that decreasing poverty in the world is a very important issue and i feel that if enough people come together to fight against poverty it can be almost completely eliminated. I believe that Habitant for Humanity is an excellent organization and that you taking the time out to help build homes for people shows great character. I know that you will bring smiles too many the faces of many poverty stricken people. You will make a major impact in their lives just by playing a part in building houses.

If not now, when?! I love your idea Son. If there is anything we need right now it is some more helping hands in the community and city as a whole. Are you from here, if not I do thank you for helping us get back on track. As you can see it is extremely needed. Even though it has been awhile since the hurricane, help is scarce and greatly appreciated. There are so many people who have lost everything and still have not and dont possess the means to acquire what they need. Some material things, one does not need but food and shelter are dire. Also, so many have become poverty stricken due to the terrible happening so just one more hand is like a thousand hearts. Take this idea and run with it, you can make this bigger and bring more awareness to our poverty-stricken people. All your ideas are great, I am silenced for suggestions.

I think that your project is a great idea. People all over the city can benefit from you helping habitat for humanity. People affected by Katrina have a great appreciation for people who volunteer to help others. Since we all know what its like to be in need Im sure you will be able to bet lots of help form your fellow students. Let me know if I can help in any way. Good Luck!

Son Kim- I think this is a great idea. I think that is great that you are working with Habitat for Humanity. A lot of people think because they cant help build the homes there isnt anything for them to do. I think that you should contact these major companies such as Sams Club, and Walmart for donations. You never know how they will respond and they are usually helpful and willing to donate or at least offer a donation. A lot of the major companies have to throw away so much food even though the expiration date hasnt passed. There is so much opportunity to receive help. You should schedule to speak with a manager and ask for some donations. With a respectable name like Habitat Humanity Im sure you can receive some donations.

Your project is very interesting and motivational. You have motivated me to want to work harder on my own project. Poverty is such a serious matter and affects so many people all over the world. I am happy to see inspired young people eager to make a change and put an end to homelessness. Keep up the good work!
