CC’s Week 11: Comment Responses…

1179 words by Christian

Why did only TWO FREAKING PEOPLE comment on my blog for week 9? That SUCKS! I needed your feedback on this one! I know a lot of people have busy lives and can not keep their blogs updated or waited to finish their blogs, which means that only a few people were up to date, so it was even hard for me to find 10 people to comment on, but to show my appreciation, I have dedicated this blog to the two people who have commented on my week nine project and implementation. (Laughing Out ::really:: Loud) Stephen and Stephanie, together think my project ideas are great and they’re supportive of my thought that family involvement is VERY IMPORTANT and much needed, especially going through these rough days. They thought it was good idea and I’m so excited! My project was frowned upon at the beginning, but hopefully people got to thinking and realized that family involvement is really important! [April 27: It is still sad because I always come back to this blog (week nine) to see if more people have commented but I guess no one really cares about family involvement or just have not gotten up to date with thier blogs...]

To be a volunteer, that sounds like a great idea. Another thing i like about your plan is the fact that it is so easy to implement. Usually everyone appreciates volunteers because they dont cost much. Actually to be more accurate, they don’t cost anything, so yea go for it and make a difference in the world.

Thanks I’m glad you feel like I can reach out! I really think family involvement is very important, especially now in the world. Everyone seems so busy now a day and sometimes forget about the simple, pleasurable and most memorable things in life! I just feel like if you have a child, you should spend as much time with him/her as possible and be a part of his/her everyday life. I’m not just meaning go out to the park and play or read a bedtime story, but to also take disciplinary action. As the Bible says, “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not part from it”.

I like the idea of your project. Family involvement has definitely declined in the past ten years. Many families are busy with work and other commitments but helping to volunteer your time to help families spend time with each other is a great idea. It is very different compare to a lot of the other projects that I have read about. It just seems like you need to get some space to get some of the small projects moving. Good Luck!

You are so right!! There has definitely been a decline in family involvement and I am so happy that you realize that! A lot of people don’t feel the way I do and a lot of people don’t see how it can “change the world”. If there was more family involvement, most of the drug addicts wouldn’t turn to drugs for comfort, and young girls wouldn’t turn to older men to make them feel “pretty”. People just don’t think about the small things that count.

Tobit is a book included in the Apocrypha, which is 15 “hidden” books and was written between the Old and New Testaments, or intertestamental. The Apocrypha was written by Jews from 300 BCE to 100CE and is included in LXX but not the Hebrew Bible. In This story, the characters are: Tobit, Anna, Sarah, Tobias and Raphael. In this story, Tobit loses his eye sight because a bird pooped in his eyes one night while he was sleeping after he was digging a forbidden grave. After he was blinded, he wanted to die but being like greedy like, he realized that someone owed him money. Sarah also wants to be dead because she feels that demons kill every man she marries. Tobias and Raphael, who is the angel in charge of medicine and healing, both travel to get Tobit’s money, but get bit by a fish on their journey. They cut out the liver, heart, and gall bladder of the fish, and for some reason decides to keep them. Sarah meets Tobias, and they, of course, fall in love and get married. Tobias and Raphael burn the body of the fish, and since they did, it frightened the demon that was after Sarah and her husbands. Raphael catches the demon. Sarah and Tobias go back to Tobit, and whips out the organs of the fish and rub the gallbladder in his eyes, and he is magically able to see again and no longer wishes to die! THE END… I would guess that the lesson in this story would be that death doesn’t always have to be the solution to your misery. Tobit and Sarah were basically giving up and wished to die, but something kept them going and everything was ok in the end. If they went ahead and died, Tobit would have never gotten his sight back or the money that was owed to him. Since the demon was after Sarah’s husbands, the demon may have gone to another woman and made her miserable, but instead he was captured.

Fact: The holiday, Hannakuh, comes from this book.
I guess some people consider the Maccabees story to be heroic because they brought back the Jewish customs and traditions to the people of Israel. While under the rule of Antiochus IV, the Jews were forbidden to practice their religion and their Temple was destroyed. For a very long time, Jews were not even allowed to practice their own religion and sadly, their temples were destroyed. As a result, the Jews and Greeks were living together and adapted to each other’s traditions, culture and customs. The Jews began to adopt Hellenistic [Greek] customs. The Jews were baffled and did not know which customs to accept and practice. That thought got me to thinking and it may be a little off subject but it amazes me how people, who are grown, and were raised up practicing a certain religion, still do not know exactly why they practice it and continue to follow the traditions. Make it a point people to find out why you are Christian, or Muslim or what ever it may be. Okay, back on track, Antiochus IV ordered every Jew practice Hellenistic customs. Afterwards, Jews were being destroyed in so many ways and so were their traditions and customs. Maccabees recovered the Jews’ culture and customs and he rebuilt their temples back and city of Judea was rejuvenated and brought back to life.
