The bible movie that we viewed in class was about the life of Jeremiah. The movie was different and I can see why Dr. Homan said that he dislikes movies that depict stories in the Bible. The movie got more interesting on the second day verse the first day that the classed view it. I found it strange that Jeremiah was giving a love interest when I did not remembers reading in the Bible that he had one, but Dr. Homan gave the explanation that it was inserted to give the story a modern day edge and make it more interesting. I do agree with what he said because in today’s society it seems that every movie that it made has to have some type of love story involved in the plot. I just found it very odd that a love story would have to be inserted in a biblical movie. I never knew how closely Jeremiah’s life was to Jesus, he tried to spread a message that others did not want to hear and because it went against what the King thought he was put in jail. The major difference is that he was not killed and because of his faith he never stop telling the message that God wanted him to preach even when his life was threatened. The movie gave a pretty good recollection of the life of Jeremiah and the things that he experienced in his life time.
Many people feel that the world will end soon because of the book of Revelation. This is the last book of the Bible and it talks about the things that will take place when the world comes to an end. It states that when the world ends that means that everyone who is a believer will go to Heaven and live a much better life then they could ever live if they remained here on Earth. Who doesn’t want to meet the man that they have heard so much about over their life time. It seems like every little negative thing that happens people reference the book of Revelation and use it prove the event that took place means that the world will be coming to an end. I do believe that the book should be read so that people know that if they do not live as they should that judgment day will come and they need to be prepared to answer to God about the things that they have or have not done over their life time.
It seems like older people are more concerned about the world coming to an end and I guess I can understand why they feel that way seeing that they have been on the earth long enough to see the world change. If you do ask the older generations about the changes that have occurred during their life time they will most likely say how the world has gotten worst and not better. I remember my grandmother talking about how the world as changed for the worst. There was a time when people could go to sleep without locking their doors and they felt perfectly safe. You didn’t have to worry about someone shooting you over stupid things. I find it interesting when older people say that because I just want to ask if they remembered the time when Jews and Blacks were killed all because of their religious background and the color of their skin. I don’t understand how that could make anyone feel safe knowing that you could be killed for something that you really did not have any control over.
I think that every generation has experienced some type of violence in their life time and that it seems like it is getting worse and worse but the truth is that they has always been violence in the world dating back to the Bible. There was just as much violence in the world today as the amount that is discussed in the Bible. After saying that I am by no means excusing the amount of violence that is present in my society, I know that it is a serious problem that needs to be solved and the solution needs to come soon.
I feel that overall I deserve either an A- of a B+ for my blog grade. I think that as far as the writings are concerned I deserve an A since I read and was able to use critical thinking skills to respond to questions that were asked of me. I never blog just the 1000 words that were required of me instead I blog more then the 1000 words and I made sure that I read the question and answered it in a manner that proved that I did the readings and that I understood the things that I was writing.
I would give myself a B+ of the project portion. I did create a project that changed the world by giving people information about heath care issues that are not discussed like they should. The thing with my project was that since it was over the topic of healthcare, there were various topics that could be discussed and would still fit into the frame work of my project. Even thought my original plan was not able to be put into place, I quickly regrouped and came up with another way to put on my project. I do think that the project can continue in the future since there will always be a problem with the issue of heath in America.
Because of my project people were informed about common bacteria by means of a display as well as a forum that had a speaker come and talk about the various bacteria that live in our homes that we seldom hear about. The next event that I put on a delta with the dangers of drinking and how easy it is for people to put drugs in people’s drunks without them even knowing it. I loved this idea because I thought people were well aware about the dangers that they need to watch out for and yet the issue of people drinking drugs that were placed in their drinks is still an issue. It was interesting to see how many people ended up with a fake drug in their drink and since the programs was interactive and they had a chance to see for themselves how easily is was for them to have ingested a drink and it make the message hit home.
I am not giving myself an A because there were sometimes were I did not complete the blog entry on time but I still completed it in a timely fashion and was able to not get that far behind.
