The ten people that I commented on were:

3. Markita Harris
4. Crystal Jordan
5. Long Nguyen
6. Thu Nguyen
7. Javonne Patterson
8. Christopher Perriatt
9. Aspen Texada
10. Paisley Robertson

Brittney Franklin: Hey, I really do like your project. Diabetes does run rampant in the black community. In fact, I know a lot of people in my family who have the disease. I definately believe that there should be more information out about it, especially in the black community, because it affects so many people. Also, I like that you are helping kids by doing tutoring. Keep up the fantastic work!

Janie Connelly: Great job Janie! I like the idea of improving healthcare. I really do think that that is something that needs to be improved drastically in our society. I definately understand the ups and downs associated with trying to get funding (not with this particular project). I wish that there was better healthcare out there. My grandmother is on a fixed income; its hard for her to get her medicines sometimes. But, I also think of other people who aren’t as lucky as my grandmother. What about the people who have to choose between getting their food and their medicine? You need both…

Keep up the good work! I know its hard, but you’re doing great!

Markita Harris: I’m loving it! Education is one of this city’s problems. I can totally understand that. This year, I have been working on a research project that had me to do much of my documenting in a New Orleans high school. I was at one of the good ones, a charter school. But as I began doing research, I found out the statistics of the New Orleans public school system. It was bad before Katrina, and now, its gotten even worse. I feel bad for the kids who have to attend these schools. I agree with you, everyone deserves a quality education. You’ve made a great start by partnering with people; now you’re not doing it all on your own. I think the Xavier community should be more involved with the community. Also, I like the way that you have gotten in touch with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. You’ve made great strides in the implementation of your project! Keep up the fantastic work!

Crystal Jordon: Wow, great project! Its really expansive, so I applaud you on taking on such a huge project. The wetlands are so important to Louisiana. I’ve watched several programs on television on the damage caused when the wetlands are depleted. Keep up the good work. I know how hard it can be.

Long Nguyen: Great job! STD’s are a huge problem. And unfortunately, not enough people know about them. I really like that you went to talk with 8th and 9th graders. I definately believe that you should talk to the kids when they’re young. This is the information that they need, and many of them don’t get that information at home. You’re doing a great thing! Keep up the great work!

Thu Nguyen: I like your project. So many people have quoted a verse from the Bible that basically says “my people fall for lack of knowledge.” It’s so true; knowledge is power and without it, you leave yourself susceptible to losing your personal power. I think its a great idea to talk with kids. Let them know that education is something great. So many people around the world don’t have this priviledge that we have to go to school for free. If only it were that way throughout your educational career! Imagine going to college for free….books paid for by the state….I know, its only a dream. LOL!

I love your project. Keep up the good work!

Javonne Patterson: I remember that forum! LOL! Great job Javonne! I definately think people should know about that. I think you did a fantastic job implementing your project into things that could be displayed throughout the hall. Keep up your plans for the future. They seem really good and relevant. Having a speaker to come speak of other diseases would be good. Good job!

Christopher Perriatt: You should definitely contact MADD. They would be able to help you in the implementation of your project. Drunk driving is a big problem for teens and young adults mainly because no one thinks that it can happen to them. No one thinks that they can be hit, or even the drunk driver. Everyone thinks they’re the exception to the rule. Keep trying. I know these projects can be hard, especially when you have so many other things to do. But, you have a great topic.

Aspen Texada: I like your idea! I was talking to my mom about a lot of little things and one thing that she said that has stuck with me is that charity starts at home. I like that you are seeking to fix the problems here at Xavier before spreading them throughout our society. Helping your fellow students is an awesome idea. So many people are struggling, and especially this semester, with everyone being burnt out! I’m sure people are going to be grateful for you and your project. And I definitely think people are going to love your project, now that finals are coming up! Keep up the fantastic work!!

Paisley Robertson: Good job Paisley! I think you have done very well in the implementation of your project. You wanted to encourage people to be more vocal and they are! Y’all are putting on a production of Passion of the Christ. And many of your youth are singing and dancing. You’ve done a great job! People are being more vocal and having fun doing it! I think you’re doing a great job as a mentor. Our youth need someone to look up to. Keep up the great work!

Job’s experience can relate to the rebuilding of New Orleans. Job lost everything that he had. He even lost his health! Through it all, he trusted in God. His wife even told him to curse God and die. But he didn’t; he kept on steadily believing and trusting that God would see him though. In the end, Job got everything that he lost back. In the same way, many people in many areas of New Orleans lost everything that that had. Just like Job, the recovery process isn’t going to happen overnight. But with some of the people, when they lost everything, their insurance didn’t give them any problems (sorry Dr. Homan) and they were able to get everything back.

In Psalm 22, David is agonizing over the attacks that he has gotten from unprovoked enemies. Many have been lead to believe that this Psalm is foreshadowing the crucifixion. Jesus uses the same words, “My God, why have you forsaken me?”
