Similarities between Genesis and the Enuma Elish story include the following: both contain Divine spirit, the formation of cosmic matter, the creation of light the creation of dry land, the creation of the moon, sun and stars, and the creation of man. The differences include that in Enuma Elish there are multiple gods. In Genesis there is but one God and possible other heavenly creatures. In Enuma Elish creation was formed from the body of Tiamat, and in Genesis the creation was made from nothing. God spoke everything into existence. The Tiglath – Pileser principle is a principle applied by historians to imply great and vast conquests without actually stating it. It purposefully gives readers an untrue depiction of the greatness of the conqueror. It was taken from royal Assyrian inscriptions during the reign of Tiglath-Pileser I who exaggerated his accomplishments to make him seem greater than he really was.
