I have learned several things from this class which include a level of expertise on the Bible. From this level of expertise I have learned the which tools of the Bible are used to critical analyze it, I have also learned how to communicate clearly on matter involving critical thinking. And from a project that we had to do for this class I have worked and still am working to improve my world. My project which was focused on restoring Louisiana’s wetlands improved the world, because it working towards informing more people of this problem and also giving people information on ways in which they can provide help towards the restoration of Louisiana’s wetlands. This all I have learned and done so far for this course. Theology is a course which is about the study of God, “theo” means God and “logy” means study of. It goes beyond the spirtual meaning of the Bible and focuses on using critical thinking to analyze the Bible which is what we get most knowledge of God from. In theology facts beyond the Bible are taken into consideration when analyzing its meaning. Historical background of a subject being discussed is analyzed, the motivate an author may have had being a writing, and its source of translation are all taken into consideration when analyzing the Bible. Sources of translation are texts such as the Jerome Vulgate which is the latin translation of the Bible are reviewed, other texts such as the Septuagint a Greek translation of the Bible is also a translation that is used to determine an orginal meaning of a scripture. Writing blogs every week which are one thousands words long forces you to think critically in order to make it to the point of one thousands words. Blogs have taught me how to write for an extensive amount of time and has also taught me how to go into depth in explanation when discussing a topic…so thanks blogs. From this course I also realized that I can start improving my world now and not just wait until I finish school and start making money. I realized that time is an important way in which I can improve my world. By taking time out of my busy schedule and devoting it towards something I am passionate about and she needs change I am improving my world for myself and for others who live in it. I am really glad that the project was apart of this course, because I see that I am able to start making changes which may not make a big impact now, but may make a great impact one day. I have made up my mind to take my project and carry it out even outside the time I had to do it. My project which is devoted towards restortion of Louisiana’s wetlands is one of things I will carry on and I am also looking for other things which I have strong feelings towards and work towards making a positive change for them. So finding ways to improve my world is one of the best things which came out of this course.
I agree with Paul’s point-of-view in the faith vs. Works conflict. I believe God judges you on the level of faith that you do and not the just on the work you do, because God looks in your heart and motivates to judge you. Anyone can perform like a Christian and not have faith in God. This would really mean nothing to God, because he is looking for us to have a relationship with Jesus in order to come closer to him and find salvation. The best thing about this class was there no assignments to worry about and I learned a lot of intresting things about the Bible that I would not have known otherwise such what shaking the left hand of a person means in antiquity. I think this should be part of the core curriculum because this is a Christian instiution and do need to have some type of knowledge of what the institution was built on and its religious views. This course has a lot to do with my major field of study in many ways. I am planning to give back to my community and give to poor with a humble heart. Jesus said that we should be cheerful givers and my providing free medical care to those who can not afford is how I will be a being a cheerful giver to my community. One day I plan to become a physican and I would like to open a free medical clinic in areas that are poverty stricken. For those who could not have afforded health care otherwise can find medical care in my clinic. All together I have written 15,000 words in one semester which is too much to grasp and at one point was too much too handle. But I know that writing a ten page report will be nothing for me compared to all that I have written during this semester. I did not have to just write, but I also had to sit and analyze and use critical thinking when blogging. Those blogs also taught me how to deal with endurance, I wanted to give up and got so frustrated with blogs weekly, but I never gave up which is something that I know I will need for the future. I would also like to travel to third world countries and give free medical service once I find time to do so. During this time I would also like to be doing missionary work and also do work providing free medical service into this agenda. So farewell blogs and farewell theology class which was a bitter-sweet and positive learning experience. This class was bitter-sweet, because of the blogs I had to do which were nerve wrecking at times, but taught me lessons in endurance and not giving up. And the positive learning experience I got out of the class was realizing the change and improvement in my world I am able to make.
