Tobit is the husband of Anna and the father of Tobias. Tobit is a grave digger and one night while digging a grave a great misfortune occurs. Tobit falls aslelep and while he is sleep birds poop in his eyes and cause him to go blind. In another land a girl name Sarah has husband issues. Every time she marries ( she’s been married seven times already) a man right before they consummate the marriage the groom gets killed by a demon. So Sarah is really unhappy and wants to die herself. God hears the prayers of Sarah and Tobit and responds by sending Raphael, the healing angel. Later Tobit sends his son Tobias to the land where Sarah lives to settle a debt and Raphael goes with him. On the way, a fish tries to kill Tobias, but he escapes, slaughtering the fish. Tobias saves the fishes heart, gall bladder, and liver. Tobias falls in love with Sarah and marries her. Sara’s father digs a grave thinking that Tobias will die like the other grooms but he lives. As suggested by Raphael, Tobias burns the fish heart and liver and the remedy keeps the demon from coming to get him. Tobias goes back to his father to fulfill the debt and upon returning rubs the fish gall bladder in Tobit’s eyes healing them. Everyone lives happily ever after. The lesson in this story is no matter what happens or how bad things may seem in life, when you pray God hears your prayer. He can heal and deliver when and how you least expect Him to.
