First let me begin by telling everyone than you for responding to my project. I have yet to receive some negative feedback (not that I want any). This has made me feel great. It let me know that my peers agree with me on my views that teen pregnancy, along with sexually transmitted diseases are problems that we as young people all have to face today. The feedback also gave me great hope. I now feel that I have a real chance to make a difference and possibly change things around. Thank you Desmyth for your comment. You are absolutely right, most schools do not agree with promoting pre-marital sex, but as you probably know that doesn’t stop the majority of the students from engaging in it. So, I appreciate your support.
Jameipie, thank you for leaving your comment. People really do get embarrassed when they have to talk about the subject, but they are not afraid to perform the actions. I guess that’s just a sign of immaturity. And as you stated, if they’re ashamed to pick up free protection they just don’t know what’s best for them.
Peter Pham, your comment was greatly appreciated. The number of teen pregnancy is rising in number. It is something that we need to work on; hopefully my project will help to get those numbers to start declining.
Jedward2, thank you for your comment. Hopefully this project will make people feel more comfortable in protecting themselves. This way they will be safer than sorry.
Bsingle2, your comment was greatly appreciated. You are so right. The majority of the young women that get pregnant are not ready for the responsibilities that go along with motherhood. The fathers are not ready either. The passing out of condoms will also aid in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. So I agree with you whole-heartedly.
Klockett thanks for your comment. I do agree, the lack of unconditional love does play a role in why the actions are being performed. Due to the fact that I can do nothing to change that, I decided to take a more practical method and solve the other problems that are caused by the actions taken because of the lack of unconditional love.
Before I tell which Decalogue is my favorite, I feel it is my duty to explain what the Decalogue is. The Decalogue is the law of God that was given to Moses, is it commonly known to us as The Ten Commandments. I have ten options in choosing my favorite. Let me give you a full list of what my options are, so you’ll know exactly what I had to choose from. In commandment 1 God states- There shall be no other God’s before me, 2- You shall not make any graven images, 3- You shall not take name of Yahweh, your God in vain, 4- Remember the Sabbath, 5-Honor your mother and your father, 6-You shall not murder (pre-meditated not accidents), 7-You shall not commit adultery, 8- You shall not steal, 9- You shall not bear false witness against your neighbors, 10-You shall not covet your neighbors possessions. Of all the options I have to choose from, Commandment 6 is my favorite. I chose this one because to me it is universal. I am a Christian, so of course I do my best to abide by the Ten Commandments, (although most of the time I don’t succeed). But what about those that are not of a Bible based religion? Do they feel that it is reasonable and acceptable to kill others? I believe that in most cultures killing is a crime punishable by law. Therefore, not only is the Sixth Commandment one that appeals to us religiously, but it is also applied in various walks of life. It is also applied everyday in ethics. There is not one single place that comes to my mind where murder is tolerated. The Decalogue also fits quite well with the context of ancient Near Eastern Suzerain Vassal Treaties. Where Suzerain is the dominant force and Vassal is the weaker of the two. There is always a prime stipulation that takes forefront in the treaties among the two. One of the prime stipulations is that Suzerain is the head and only Suzerain. This is exemplified in the First Commandment, where God is supreme and only God. There is also always a subsequent stipulation enforced in these treaties. Vassal must do x, y, and z. In this case, the Israelites must follow the Ten Commandments and God will give them the promise land. Provisions for the treaty can be found in the Ark of The Covenant.
Patriarchs and matriarchs found in the Bibles are not very good role models in most cases. They did things in those times that we do not do presently. This makes think about how Lot had sex with his daughters. Although Lot was drunk, the fact still remains that he had sexual intercourse with them. This is an example of how patriarchs are not very good role models. At times matriarchs are not very good role models either. My parents always told me that they didn’t have a favorite child. They love us all differently, but equal. Having said this, the story of Jacob comes to mind. Isaac and Rebekah have two sons together, Essau and Jacob. Jacob is born grabbing the heel of his brother. Jacob is also the favorite of their mother, Rebekah. Essau, having been the first born is entitled to the birthright and the blessing from their father. Rebekah comes up with an idea to trick Isaac into giving the blessing to Jacob instead of Essau. I know…pretty scandalous. This is an example of how matriarchs are not very good role models. Not every mother and father mentioned in the Bible are bad role models. Take God as an example, he gave his only Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for all sinners. This is the greatest love that can ever be shown. So I guess in a sense this on e action make up for all of the not so good patriarchs and matriarchs found in the Bible,( and there are quite a few).
