Many Christians believe that the world will end in their lifetimes. This mainly comes from the word the prophets are preaching which suggests the end of time. With each passing decade, however, what we view as the sign to the end of the world changes. The book of Revelation is a big part of these beliefs. Being the last book of the Bible it is the last thing read leaving within the minds of all its readers that we should be preparing for the end because it is near. Revelations constantly states that God is coming soon, but how soon is soon. No one really knows so we are only left to live out our lives as God would have wanted and wait. People see happenings such as wars, plagues and unholy living as signs that the end is near. Since we on earth are unable to truly know when the day is coming we can only speculate. The reason each generation believes that it will come in their lifetime is because wars, plagues and unholy living goes on within each person’s lifetime. The world wars brought about speculation and pretty much any major war where a lot of damage was done. The plagues are something different; they come all too often sparking up conversation each time as well. The Black Death and HIV/AIDS can be viewed as huge plagues and many people believe they are predicting the worlds end. People justify these happenings and other natural disasters as God’s warning signs. I have experienced the opinions of others when Katrina hit New Orleans. People said there was too much corruption and problems with the city so he nearly destroyed it. I have not decided if I believe that but many people do. They see warnings in natural disasters as justifications why God would send down something so horrible. With the changes in weather and natural disasters I can see why people believe the world would come to an end during this time in our lives. The world is only becoming progressively worse with each new generation. Many people are trying to reverse the effects but at times it seems almost helpless.
The bible movie was interesting. I enjoyed the part that I was able to watch. I only caught the end because I was unable to attend class the previous week. I was slightly confused once the movie began but that was normal for coming in at the middle but I think I caught the good part. It was a very powerful movie in that the message it portrayed was something we deal with a lot. People are not listening to others and the consequences that can arise from that. People are also being put down because they are different. After I caught up and got over the fact that I did not know if the actor playing Jeremiah was Patrick Dempsey or not I think it was a good movie. I saw when Jeremiah was still trying to convince the king that his kingdom was going to be taken over by the Babylonians. I remember when one of the king’s priests had tried to pose as the true prophet by humiliating Jeremiah but that only made things worse for the king. I think Jeremiah had a very difficult time with being a prophet. God specifically told him what he had to tell the king. God also added that when he tells them they will not listen to him. His mission is basically a useless one because he is supposed to spread the news of God but he can only do that if people listen to him. His job as a prophet was much harder than some previous ones. I felt bad that he was being tortured for what he was saying. The movie was a little Hollywood though with the love scenes but it does make the story more interesting especially when she died. Jeremiah was still not heard by the king and his destruction soon followed with the deaths of his sons and the takeover of his kingdom.
This class was, as I stated in a previous blog, interesting and different than what I had expected. When I learned of these blogs I was ultimately kind of overwhelmed at the thought but was doing pretty good in the beginning. Well since I did over 1000 words or a 1000 at least I believe that I deserve an A. Well basically I believe that if everyone at least wrote 1000 words a week they surely deserve an A or high B for at least completing all this work. This was a fairly difficult process really forcing me to have to think about what I write. Since I had to find a way to elaborate what I could say in about 500 words into 1000 words I learned to better analyze things as well. Now, I think you know that I would obviously always give myself an A for completing this task but to be completely honest I would not be upset at a B either. My reasoning for my honesty is that I really do not believe my project has changed the world. My original project was changed due to circumstances beyond my control but I found a way to carry on so I guess an A for effort could be awarded. I did, however, manage to spread information about this problem to a lot of my peers through, which I guess could be viewed as a good thing. The problem I decided to take on is however one of a grandiose scope in which someone with little experience or education can only do so much but maybe in the near future good things will come of me starting to try and fix this problem early in my education. However, I do feel that my blogs showed that I understood all that I read and the lectures Dr. Homan gave. I guess that could count for an A as well.

Pretty good analysis.
