African American criticism is a useful tool in examining the bible because it gives us insight into racial stigma surrounding African Americans today as opposed to their treatment in the ancient antiquity. As I learned from bible dudes, in ancient antiquity Africans were considered wise, beautiful and royal in many circumstances. This is a slightly different view of Africans than what exist today. So this type of criticism shows that the role Africa and its people had in ancient times and also alludes to the fact that the idea of racisms and colored developed later on in history. Through different critical views it is obvious that some literary documents have been translated in an effort to oppress a certain race.
