Unfortunately, unlike so many others my project is not an easy one. It cannot just happen over night or with some volunteering. My project is way more complex than that. I have to get political leaders to realize and recognize that we, as a country, have a true issue on our hands. Speaking with several of my comrades, I am shocking aware of how many lack heath insurance. If it was not Xavier’s policy many would lack the ability to visit with a doctor. They would be forced to attend a free health clinic where the doctors and medications are limited because the funds are limited. What about the colleges that do not require a student to have medical insurance? These students could potentially lack adequate health care based on the fact that they would not be able to afford, exceed the age to be insured by their parents, or they do not meet the necessary requirements to receive government healthcare assistance. Taking all of this into consideration I have constructed letters to our local political leaders expressing the main issue and asking them their plans to help alleviate the situation. I dedicate my time to several volunteer programs offered through the M.A.X. program on Xavier’s campus. Here I associate myself with other college students where I discuss my project and topic issue. By my determining intention in ‘spreading the word’ I hope start a movement. This could be someone’s grandparent, parent, sibling, or self that would suffer from the government’s shortcomings in providing the nation’s citizen with affordable heath insurance. It seems like health insurance is seen as a luxury instead of a necessity. Life is a precious gift given by God. It is our duty and responsibility to care for ourselves in order to live a healthy life. I plan to create and distribute pamphlets stating the facts. Sometimes people must see numbers in order for the situation to affect them. Others may have apathetic attitude because they are by some means insured, not realizing this could potentially be them. The time to act is now. How many people have to suffer or die just because they are unable to afford the necessary medical treatment to survive, before we say enough is enough? As disagreements exist all throughout the world there is a constant confliction between medicine and religion. After being exposed to the Bible on a more tangible level, I feel that this theology class will pertain to my profession a clinical pharmacist. In the field of medicine doctors are confronted with patients that do not agree with some medical procedures because they fill that the medical field goes against the words or instructions of the Bible. In addition, I have learned of many magnificent cures God has performed in the Bible and some feel God continues these miracles today. There is no doubt that I am a firm believer of God, but after taking this class, I have realized that many things in the Bible are placed within it and recreated to entertain, convince, manipulate or scare the reader. I feel that God is real, but he exist for reasons sometimes writers and readers over analyze often in the Bible. It is known that some patients refuse medications because of religious beliefs. Though I opt to take natural herbs for my common illnesses, I know that it will be extremely important to convey to my patient how imperative it is take medications prescribed in order to keep them well. Today, religion acts as another therapy, but doctors argue that its not. After taking this class I have to agree that religion cannot be use to implement everything in our society. Religion is religion, medicine is medicine, animals are animals; everything is the way it was intended to be. In taking this theology course, I’ve been able to see things at faced-value which allows me to interpret the Bible in a relevant way. I feel that theology is just as important as science in my goal to become a pharmacist. This class has really helped my analytical thinking, I am not just reading the Bible, I’m thinking a lot deeper about its contents and the history that is behind every word. This will definitely aid me as a pharmacist to look much deeper than what is apparent to better serve better my patients. My religion offers me morals values the same is with my profession. Although, it’s a profession it does come along with ethics, morals and values. Taking this class has made me want to read more and develop an understanding and respect for the subject. I’ve never known so much background information about the Bible .Feminist Criticism has been seen as a useful tool, because it brings forth the representation of the female species conditions in literary text. In the case of the Bible it does the exact same thing depicting women as invisible beings inferior to men and degrading them in subliminal ways. Feminist Criticism argues that women are down played and this is why feminist criticism is such a useful tool because it allows readers to actually be aware of the tactics used by writers to belittle women. Feminist criticism brings forth a tradition of female writing and how authors interpret women to be. It also unravels sexism in a variety text. Feminist Criticism is also a useful tool because it can be used to interpret new and old text, as well as different writing styles of different authors. It helps to point out the techniques that men used to oppress women. Women were made to believe that they were not equal to the man. The Bible often mentions women in a negative image, as property, seductress and mentions of women in the Bible are nowhere near the number of Biblical characters that are men. Feminist criticism leads you to believe that the Bible was written by men. Some of the same womanly struggles that took place in the Bible are very apparent today.
