My thoughts on the class so far are pretty good, I can see myself really getting into in depth discussions dealing with theology. My expectations from this course is to gain an even better understanding of the Bible. Also learn alot more of the history about the writers of the books of the Bible and why were some of the books written. Honestly, the first reason that I took this course is because it is a requirement, but when I left the first class I realized that this class is going to be helpful. I was raised in the Christian church since I was little, but as I got older I started to truly live for God, totally and completely. I realized that understanding how the books of Bible originated, why they were written, and different questions like that would help me understand the Bible even more when I am reading it on my own. Personally, my thoughts of the Bible are good, I like reading it but sometime I get lost because of the language (King James Version). I like the NIV version better because I can understand more about what the chapter or passage is talking about. My background in the Bible is that I have had alot of expierience because I have been in church since I was little, but I most of the time have really not understood what I read until a couple of years ago. I came to learn that you have to study the Bible just it is a class to understand what the writer is trying to get across. What I want for my professional vocation is to be an Entertainment Lawyer. I am currently a Business Management major, and from there I want to go to law school. After expierience in law, I plan to open up my own law firm. Unfortunately, I don’t think this class has anything to do with my vocation, but it can always help me as a person. I read the Course Commitments and I will be able to make these commitments because I know that every teacher has guidelines and rules. I will respect them and follow them. 586 BCE is a key event in the Bible because that is when the Babyloanians conquered the Kingdom of Judah. Lamentations was written by Jeremiah who was called the weeping prophet. Lament also means a sad song. The Wailing Wall was a wall that people use to go to to leaves notes inside of the wall for God. Some specific paralells to the horrific scenes in Lamentations and the aftermath of Katrina are of course the many, many lives we lost during the storms, and also the conditions that we came home to. Many houses we destroyed just in Lamentations when they destroyed the temple.
