Marcia Southwick: Feedback
These are excerpts from written responses by attendees at the various campus events featuring this writer.
- I have a further understanding of the different methods poets use as a basis of their individual writings (i.e. use examples taken from news and outside sources).
- If I could I would current writers because they seem to have special views on current events.
- It added a new understanding about poetry and birds. I thought only wood-peckers climbed trees, but I was wrong.
- Comparing bird watching and poetry made it easier for me to depict characteristics of a poem. She had a different style of reading.
- Her poems were very interesting and funny.
- The poet is awesome. She's down to earth.
- Mrs. Southwick said she likes to write in spurts; I can relate to that as a writer.
- [This event encouraged me to read more current writers] so I can see how writers are interpreting the changes in society.
- [One feature I can take away from this event] are "found" poems.
- I learned how to write and read poetry; it opened a new door of knowledge and ideas. I learned how to really analyze and break up poems.
