Small Group Instructional Diagnosis
Discover what your students really think about your teaching. A facilitator will meet your class, distribute a questionnaire, and lead a small group discussion on how the course is going. Before conducting the diagnosis, you and the facilitator will meet to design a questionnaire that will address areas of particular concern. Allow thirty minutes at the end of a class for the process. After introducing the facilitator and explaining what is about to happen, you leave the classroom. The facilitator then distributes the questionnaires and arranges students into small groups to discuss their responses. A whole-class discussion follows. Later, at a mutually convenient time, the facilitator meets with you to confidentially discuss what the students wrote and said.

- the pace
- the learning environment
- assignments
- teaching methodology
- teaching technologies (PowerPoint, Blackboard, etc.)
- what one thing needs to be improved so that they can better learn
