Kingdoms of the Western Sudan

Program content by
Jonathan Rotondo-McCord,Ph.D.

A two-part interactive program which teaches the social, political and administrative history of the West African kingdoms of the Sudan and the process of interpreting primary source historical texts. This program requires students to learn the history of the regions as well as read primary sources. Students are required to analyze and interpret the source texts, then respond to hypothetical situation questioning. Multiple alternative feedback responses are provided. The traditional history is presented in a read-question-respond-reply formula. Audio clips, period music, pictures and maps enhance the experience of this program. It may be used to complement courses in world and African history, literature, religion, and art history.
