Race in the Americas

This course looks at the formation of race as an historical construct in North and South America, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. Central themes include European-Native American contact and colonialism; slavery and freedom; immigration and nationalism; racial mixture and sexuality; poverty, labor, and class struggles.
