Leading Reading Discussions

Reading a book and discussing it sounds like a simple process, yet when confronted by a roomful of students who don't think they have anything to say about what they've read, that process can become quite a challenge. More and more, faculty are incorporating non-textbook reading into classes, even those that traditionally rely solely on a textbook. Doing so enables students to apply course concepts in a way a textbook can't.

As our final Read Today, Lead Tomorrow session this year, we will consider how to step out from behind the podium and engage students through reading discussions. Ms. Katheryn Laborde (English) and Ms. Linda Rodriguez (English) will discuss and demonstrate methods for facilitating reading discussions in the classroom.

To register: RSVP to for lunch.
