The Great Dilution
A Discussion with Dr. Stuart Rojstaczer

For fifty years, the educational aspect of college has undergone a great dilution. Study hours have decreased. Material has been simplified. Grades have increased. While more and more people obtain college degrees, the intensity of intellectual achievement associated with college life has been measurably diminished and those that obtain college degrees have learned less, on average, than the college students of the 1950s and 1960s. In this presentation, Dr. Stuart Rojstaczer, a former Duke geophysics professor who has researched trends in university grading over the last few decades, will examine just how much we've diluted college education, why we have done so, and the implications of that dilution for American society.

Note: Lunch will be served.
