Critiquing the Canon in Your Discipline
Using English as an Example

In this workshop, Christine Kwon will discuss how the Western Canon has influenced the past and present tradition of literature. She will speak to the importance of resisting, reacting to, and questioning ‘who’ and ‘what’ have been historically celebrated. We will address the problem of reclaiming the ‘other voices’ that have been ignored by the canon, and the possibility of changing the canon of the future.
