You can use videos to promote critical thinking and active learning.   <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There's a big difference between watching a video and learning something from it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Emily A. Moore, M.Ed., instructional designer in the online learning office at Texas State Technical College \u2013 Harlingen Campus, gives suggestions to help increase the educational effectiveness of an online course video. Brightspace supports embedding and\/or linking to video from many other systems and solutions.  Sites such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\">YouTube<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/\">Vimeo<\/a>, or other video repositories can be embedded easily by clicking the Insert Stuff button in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/brightspace-tip-43-html-editor\/\">HTML Editor<\/a>, choosing the Enter Embed Code option from the list, and then pasting the embed code.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Embed Video\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/embed_your_video.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/embed_your_video.jpg?resize=220%2C170\" alt=\"image showing Embed Video using HTML code\" width=\"220\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The benefit of embedding video into a course is that it enables the students to stay within the context of the course and within the sequence of instruction, rather than linking out away from course content.<\/p>\n<p>It is a good idea to embed or link to videos rather than uploading video files to your course. You can upload your videos to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\">YouTube<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/\">Vimeo<\/a>, or other media server and then embed or link to the video within the course as explained above. Video Notes is a built-in media recording tool that allows instructors and learners to record short videos (up to 3 minutes) with a webcam. This makes it easy to personalize the learning experience with short, video-based feedback, comments, or instructions.
