{"id":8399,"date":"2015-10-02T09:27:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-02T14:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/?p=8399"},"modified":"2015-10-02T09:27:19","modified_gmt":"2015-10-02T14:27:19","slug":"annotate-videos-in-moocnote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/annotate-videos-in-moocnote\/","title":{"rendered":"Annotate Videos in MoocNote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Karen Nichols<\/p>\n<p>Since Inverted Learning is this year's theme for CAT+FD and we are having workshops and information on flipping, here's a free, handy tool for annotating videos that you may wish your students to watch in advance of class.  <a title=\"mooc note\" href=\"http:\/\/moocnote.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MoocNote<\/a> does require an account but it's very easy to set up and does not ask for all of your personal information.\u00a0 Here are the steps to getting started:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Go to the <a title=\"Mooc note\" href=\"http:\/\/moocnote.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">MoocNote<\/a> homepage and click on Sign Up.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Enter your email and choose a password.\u00a0 You're in!<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 Once you're inside MoocNote you may import one video or an entire playlist from YouTube by entering the URL.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Assign your video to a group (it can be a group of 1 if you wish).<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 Begin viewing the video and stop it at key points to use add notes, questions, a resource link, etc.\u00a0 The textbox and buttons are located directly beneath the video you're viewing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8403\" title=\"Add notes links hotkeys\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cat.xula.edu\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/Add-notes-links-hotkeys1.PNG?resize=625%2C227\" alt=\"Add notes links hotkeys\" width=\"625\" height=\"227\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 Once you've finished, return to the Dashboard and you will see all of the notes you've made on the right side of the screen.\u00a0 In the center, you will see the option to Share the video with others.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0 Note that your students or anyone with whom you share the video will need to create a MoocNote account in order to view it.\u00a0\u00a0 I'm looking into any plans the company has to make links available in Blackboard to view from there.\u00a0 Perhaps that will be coming later!<\/p>\n<p>We've experimented with this in our ETC (Educational Technology Community) virtual meeting and some of the instructors find this may be a useful tool.\u00a0 I want to share a video with my French 1020 students to get their feedback as well.\u00a0 Please let us know if this app is handy for your needs too!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Karen Nichols Since Inverted Learning is this year's theme for CAT+FD and we are having workshops and information on flipping, here's a free, handy tool for annotating videos that you may wish your students to watch in advance of class.
