Jesus in Capernaum

Jesus, once rejected in Nazareth, went to live in Capernaum, a town on the northern shore of Lake Galilee.

MT 4:12-13 "When Jesus heard that John [the Baptist] had been put in prison, he went away to Galilee. He did not stay in Nazareth, but went to live in Capernaum, a town by Lake Galilee..."

He makes this town his headquarters or homebase and as an itinerant preacher he goes from here throughout the region of Galilee, the area around Lake Galilee. It is here on the shores of Lake Galilee that Jesus calls his disciples.
