The gosepls are not biographies of Jesus. All four gospels, for example, concentrate on the last three years or so of his adult life, and only two (Matthew and Luke) give any mention of his early life. There is a reason for this, as we shall see shortly. The point is that none is interested in biographical details: none is interested in when he took his first step, when he took his first donkey ride, what he did on his eighteenth birthday. Rather than biographies, the gospels are religious proclamations. One can get a glimsp of this by examining the very word "gospel," which means "good news."#
This leads to the question: what was the "good news" of the gospels?
