Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Critical Care Medicine

by Dr. Jessica Johnson

The primary reason for my development of a course portfolio is that the creation of the portfolio will guide my design and development of my course by documenting the connections between my course goals and objectives and the course activities. Secondary objectives include documenting the efficacy of my teaching techniques, improving my teaching materials and assessments, assisting me with the formulation and articulation of a teaching philosophy, and documenting continuous quality improvement as required by AACP accreditation agencies. The devastating news of the difficulty recent Xavier graduates are having passing their board exams has motivated many of us to take a very close look at our contribution to the overall education of our students. For their sake and for ours, we must initiate a deep and unrelenting investigation into the efficacy of our teaching methods and the curriculum. A course portfolio will both assist with the proposed investigation and will document and demonstrate effort and continuous quality improvement as required for university accreditation.
