Active and Engaged Reading

by Ms. Cocoa Williams

The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate my incorporation of Xavier University's QEP mission. To that end, I designed this course aroudn the idea that effective reading practices should to be taught to college level readers, who are asked to read a variety of different texts for a variety of different pedagogical purposes. This portfolio includes my reading-specific teaching philosophy, course syllabus, sample assignments, and examples of student coursework that all demonstrate my commitments to teaching students how to read critically and use their critical reading skills to write stronger essays and develop a higher level of active engagement in their reading.
