Goal

In traditional African societies, Art is not viewed as being separate from life and death. This embrace gives rise to fusion of that which is secular and sacred. Given the fact of contact as ongoing process, the purpose of this module is to examine how aspects of the visual and performing arts can be studied in interdisciplinary fashion to gauge sacred and secular themes which simultaneously highlight social and political expression that conveys interaction among inhabitants in the United States who demonstrated concern for broad-based civil rights from 1954-1970.
