Jazz: Dialect Voices

An historical account of the history of jazz. It is a linear program which starts with background information from West Africa and slavery and when completed will conclude with the revival of 1940's jazz to current date. The text describes how through music, life is redefined; how the need for a people to express themselves has brought about a great tradition with social significance; how this great tradition has transformed.
