SPIG Minutes for Monday, December 6th, 2004

2:30-3:30 PM

Attendants: Michelle B. Falgoust, Lanny Foss, Susan Fredine, David Lanoue, and Todd Stanislav.

The minutes of the 11-15-04 meeting were approved.

Based on the prioritized list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, the members identified the following goals:

CAT Staff

  1. Develop or acquire expertise in areas of need:
    1. Assessment of teaching and learning
    2. Theories of teaching and learning
    3. Faculty development
  2. Hire or appoint a staff member who has responsibility for CAT programmatic assessment activities
  3. Hire or appoint an assistant or associate director

CAT Communication

  1. Build bridges with other campus groups (e.g., Center for Undergraduate Research, University 1010 and 1020 faculty and staff, Environmental Programs, Faith and Learning Programs, Information Technology Center, Service Learning Program, Center for International and Intercultural Programs)
  2. Develop means for effective reporting of CAT activities to stakeholders

CAT Facilities and Resources

  1. Provide more pedagogical resources in CAT and on CAT website.

The Program and Funding goals will be discussed at the next meeting which is scheduled for Monday, December 13, at 11 AM. Lunch will be provided.
