Course Portfolio Extension

If you have participated previously in a Course Portfolio Working Group (CPWG), the Center for the Advancement of Teaching invites you to once again participate during one or both of the upcoming semesters. (Faculty who have not particpated in the CPWG are encouraged to examine the CPWG RFP.) We hope this opportunity will allow you to either expand your original course portfolio or create a new one.

If you wish to expand your original course portfolio (e.g., examine or re-examine a teaching or student learning question, revise student learning outcomes and teaching methods), you may wish to spend just one semester working with the CPWG. This participation would occur during the semester that the course is being offered.

If you wish to create a new portfolio, you may wish to participate both semesters in the CPWG. This form of participation would allow you more time for preparation and reflection before evaluating the course and preparing the portfolio.

A $500 stipend per semester is available. Funded faculty must submit an end-of-semester report. If not published on the Web, a physical copy of the course portfolio will be filed in the Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

If you are interested in this opportunity, you need only to submit a one-page letter of interest to the Center by April 23, 2004. This letter should indicate whether you wish to expand your original course portfolio or write a new portfolio, and the semester or semesters during which you wish to participate in the Course Portfolio Working Group. You may send the letter via campus mail (P.O. Box 78) or e-mail (cat@xula.edu). Applicants will be notified of the results in mid-May 2004.

More information about course portfolios and the Course Portfolio Working Group may be found on the Center's website: http://cat.xula.edu/initiatives/cpwg/.

Deadline: April 23, 2004
Applicants will receive notification of the results in mid-May 2004.
