THE MUSIC OF LIFE PROJECT: SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH PRAXIS AND PROSPECTIVE

by Dr. John E. Ware

The Music for Life Project will comprise a series of class lecture/seminars, pre-concert lectures, assigned readings, a Blackboard site for student/faculty blogs, opinions, performance reviews, and sustainability focused performances including ensemble concerts and student and guest recitals. The primary objective of this project will be to enhance student musical performances and to improve student understanding of the import and utility of music in their lives and those of others. Objectives, content, and structure of The Music for Life Project will be built into the MURE (Music Recital Class) syllabus. (Recital Class is a required course for all music majors each semester of matriculation but this project will support sustainability concepts in applied lessons (MUAP) and ensemble classes (MUEN) all of which are included in the Xavier Core Curriculum.
