Crossroads/CAT Community Initiative

Crossroads Project for Art, Learning and Community, and Center for the Advancement of Teaching invite proposals from Xavier faculty to co-create an interdisciplinary learning community built around a new, citywide youth arts activism program based at New Orleans Charter Science & Math High School ("Sci High"). Sci High contains grades 9-12 and a total student body of 300.

This request is open to any combination of (a) one member of the Xavier faculty who will act as project leader; and (b) students, other faculty and staff.

Crossroads will need support in the implementation, documentation and evaluation of the model program. This includes tasks like: curriculum research and logistics (for example: identifying source materials, arranging fieldtrips and guest speakers); recording and transcribing activities (video, audio, photo, written); gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data (interviews, records, etc.). Learning community members will also have a central role in the formulation of evaluation conclusions and recommendations.

In addition, as an emerging enterprise itself, Crossroads encourages potential learning community members who want to participate in and reflect upon Crossroads' own organizational/administrative development, as a case study in non-profit cultural and educational organizations in post-Katrina New Orleans.

Potential members of such a learning community are invited to contact Mat Schwarzman and David Lanoue to discuss co-developing a full proposal to CAT for support.

Deadline: July 21, 2006
Applicants will receive notification of the results in early August 2006.
A part of the July 2006 RFP Multipack.
