Lusher School Training

Based on feedback we received in response to the survey completed by teachers at both Lusher sites, we have planned three activiites for you that will allow participants to experiment with technology that utilizes the web on three different levels. The Composer tutorial provides basic information to new users of Composer, but is extensive enough for even experienced persons to learn from its content. Our intent is that teachers will begin the tutorial and work through it at their own pace during the time alloted and return to it whenever needed. This method of learning software is direct and non-intrusive. The WebQuest activity introduces participants to an online community for teachers. With a little initial guidance, teachers will be able to publish a lesson fairly quickly that can in the future be used by their students. The third activity provides the best opportunity for us to model what we beleive are the kinds of collaborative activities that teachers will want to provide for their students. This is a very hands-on group activity that requires groups of teachers to create a web page. This kind of activity can be used in a one computer classroom, and requires students to use web searching skils and various applications (spreadsheets, digital image files, and word-processing) to solve a real world problem.

The Three Activities

A Composer tutorial and template- Participants work independently through an online tutorial and then complete a template for their class web page.
