Faculty Participation in the Center for the Advancement of Teaching, 1998-2004

We investigated several questions about the characteristics of faculty who submitted proposals to Xavier University's Center for the Advancement of Teaching during the period 1998-2004. Chi-square goodness-of-fit tests were performed to determine if the profile of those faculty matches that of the University's faculty as described in the University Profile 2003-2004. We tested hypotheses about the distribution of faculty by gender, race/ethnicity, academic division, and academic department. Separate tests were performed for proposals submitted, proposals funded, and proposals not funded. The presentation will include some statistical theory, but the emphasis will be on the results of the analyses.
