Creating an Atmosphere of Respect from Day One
One of the most difficult elements of teaching is student incivility in the classroom. As teachers, we must attend to classroom management issues because as Feldmann (2001) states, "classroom incivility restricts the learning and teaching capability of our institutions." Good teaching is not defined by the absence of these problems, but rather by having good ways address them. In this workshop, we will hear about ways of dealing with student problems by making them less likely to occur in the first place.
Learn how to decrease student incivility in the classroom
Explore ways of dealing with incivility when it does arise
