Assessment Help
Read Today, Lead Tomorrow has asked our faculty to do many new things. Incorporating active reading instruction in their content classes has been the most substantial request. A different, albeit related, request is the assessment of that instruction. Assessment is a word unavoidable in academia today (especially if you are accredited by SACS), and it is something few of us were taught in graduate school. For many, it's yet another gap between what we know how to do and what we are being asked to do.
Dr. Brenda Edgerton-Webster (Communication) and Dr. Jason Todd (English) will attempt to bridge that gap by discussing how their departments are assessing their efforts with active reading instruction. After describing these unique plans, they will lead participants in an exercise to develop an assessment plan from the ground up.
